  4. This is one more level of view modes: File name, Title, Caption and Keywords. When you click on them you will see that the text under the images changes. For example, when caption is marked it is the image's captions that you are changing when editing the text below the images.

By double clicking on any image or folder or hover the mouse and press edit, jAlbum will go to the Edit view mode.

  1. In the column to the right you can view and change information about the image.

Settings pages

When clicking on the settings button, the album settings will open. These settings applies to the album you are working in.

On this page you can change the album thumbnail. If you upload the album to, this is the image displayed on your profile page. If you use the Turtle skin, this is also the header/theme image on the main page of your album. Browse through the images in the album by using the arrows below the image to select the album thumbnail.

You can also change the album title, add keywords and a description.

You can also change the directory locations. The first text field is the location of the image directory. The second one is the output directory, the finished album will be placed in this folder and it's the folder that you upload. When the album is uploaded, you can see the address to the album in the third textfield Address.

  1. These settings controls what the thumbnails is linking to in the album. Link to scaled-down images only is exactly as it sounds. Link to hi-res* via scaled images means that the scaled images is shown in the slideshow but there is a link or a button on each page that allows the viewer to view the hi-res image. Link to originals will link to the original images, no scaled images will show in the album. This is not recommended if you have large images since the images might take to long to load. Link to originals via scaled images works the same as Link to hi-res* images via scaled images but instead of viewing the hi-res image, the viewer will see the originals.
Make slide pages means separate slide pages is created for all images in the album. When this checkbox in unfilled it means that one slide page is used and only the image is changing. This gives a more dynamic and smoother impression when viewing the slideshow (this setting only works in Turtle).
Copy originals means that a copy of the originals is included in the album.
  2. This setting does not work for all skins, it depends on how the skin itself handles the thumbnail layout.
  3. When the image order on view>>Order by is set to According to jAlbum settings, these settings will be applied.
  4. You can add a link to your home page in the album. This is great if you for example are linking to the album from your home page and want the user to be able to get back to your home page after finnish viewing the album. Add the URL with “http://” included and then add an appropriate text.
  5. Credit links are displayed by default in all albums, here you can change the credit link text or you can turn it off. You need to have a license in order to turn it off.

This is the general image settings. You can change the scaling method, smooth gives the best result, but if you have memory problems you can try medium. You can also change the sharpen, the image quality and the size.

This is advanced image settings. You can force jalbum to write jpeg for all images even if they are png or gif by ticking the checkbox Force JPEG writing. You can also Save thumbnails with higher JPEG compression quality. You can Attempt to use hardware accelerated scaling which speeds up the scaling but can degrade the quality on some graphics cards. Progressive mode means that jalbum uses progressive encoding. You can also choose to Superimpose film icon onto movie thumbnails and you can change the background color for translucent images.

On this settings page you can add effects to the images, these effects are applied to all images in the album, including images in sub folders. You can add a watermark to the images, by using text, a logo, or both. You can also add other effects to the images like greyscale and other filters.

This is the video settings page. You can change the video quality and the resolution. You can also add your own settings in the advanced part of this settings page.

The widgets are added as a bar in the bottom of your album. You need to bee signed in to your jalbum account in order to use the widgets. The available widgets are About, Comments, Counter and Share.

On this page you can change the default character encoding and choose to always write UTF-8. It's recommended to have Write UTF-8 on. You can change the date format and change patterns that shall be ignored.

Process sub directories means that jalbum recursively searches through sub directories when looking for images. Process only updated sub directories means that jalbum skips sub directories if the directory haven't been touched since the last album built. Include sub directories in index pages does exactly what it says. Use thumbnail for folder icon means that an image from that folder will be used as thumbnail instead of the standard folder icon. Exclude new images by default automatically excludes recently added images in image directory.

The checkboxes in Comment sources controls what comment sources jAlbum shall use. Title source does the same for the title.

Include photographic data in generated pages means including metadata like camera settings (EXIF) and IPTC data. Include photographic data in generated images does the same but for the images. Include xmp metadata in generated images includes xmp metadata in generated close ups and hi-res images. You can also Include jAlbum widget support. Suppress internet explorer warnings means that javascript warnings are prevented from showing in IE when previewing an album. Generate media RSS feed simplifies album indexing and allows visitors to subscribe to albums.

On this page you can change the naming. You can also choose to URL-encode links, you need to have this checkbox filled in order to make links with spaced and international characters work with the web. Uncheck for local browsing. Generate web-safe file names ensures that characters that aren't supported in URLs are avoided in generated files.
