Try opening the map in a separate window - click the little icon at the right, next to "Location." I think you'll find the map much easier to use that way. Screenshot.

ETA: And once the map is undocked, you can also make its window much larger, which is a huge benefit!

Thanks - the separate window feature is easy to use and I can still edit the Title and Comments fields whilst looking at the map.

I'm not sure I understand the reported problem. I just fired up the old Windows desktop (maybe for the last time before I give it away), and no matter how much zooming and enlarging I do, I still have full access to the comment and title fields.

But on the general subject of the map, it's always struck me that the Location window is always too small to use for searching and moving pins around. That's why I suggested making it undockable in the first place.

I'd be inclined to leave the lat/long fields editable, and keep the trash can. But I'd get rid of the ability to interact with the map itself - just show a thumbnail with the marker.. Clicking on the map should undock it, and that's where you can start interacting with it.

Ah, yes, now I can reproduce it. In that case, I think I'd modify my suggestion - make the location map pane "display only" until you undock it. No need for a little icon - just make it respond to a click, like a thumbnail.

BTW, the undocked map behaves very nicely when you cycle through the images, so for someone who's doing fixes on a bunch of objects, having it undocked works like a champ.

ETA: One bit of misbehavior, however. If you've got the map undocked and you click the Explore icon to return to the thumbnails, the map stays open. And it continues to show the map for the last thumbnail that was opened for editing, even if you select another thumbnail. If you open another thumbnail for editing, it does straighten itself out. The histogram does something very similar. I think if you return to the thumbnail display, all open modals should close.

ETA: And while we're at it, how about making the skin's custom UI panel undockable? That might open up some possibilities for more object-specific settings. I'm doing my own modals in several of my skins. For example:

In the Neptune panel, notice the "Folder Info Text" and "Folder Music Tracks" buttons - when clicked, they produce modals - scroll down on that manual page to see what they look like.

(I'm only days away from wiping the Windows machine and giving it away. In my old house, I could have set it up in a spare room and kept it for testing stuff, but in my little condo, there's no place for it. Maybe I'll buy a Walmart laptop for doing that kind of thing!)

Not really disparaging, and I haven't found anything in Win 11 that was worse than Win 10. But it was time to replace my aging desktop, and since I also have a Macbook Air and an iPhone, it made sense to complete the trifecta. The 2018-vintage Dell desktop and monitor are destined for local giveaway - they don't owe me anything. At this point I'm just making sure that I've got everything off there that I need before I hit Reset My PC.

I used to feel the need to keep one foot in the Windows world, back when testing in IE and the earlier versions of Edge was a requirement of doing skin development, but those days are largely gone. These days, the odd man out is usually Safari, which has become the least standards-compliant browser.

I still maintain that File Explorer is much better than Finder. Other than that, most of what I use is cross-platform anyway - Thunderbird, Brave, LibreOffice, NetBeans, and so on.

I do like getting rid of the rat's nest of cords and cables. On an iMac, there's a power cord. That's it. I've got a tiny external SSD drive for backups, but that's on a short cord, and the whole thing can be loosely taped to the back of the stand - totally invisible. BTW, Time Machine is a wonder to behold.

Not a fan of the Magic Mouse, but I'll give it a chance. There are some very good things about it, but fine control is proving troublesome. RobM labeled it "fiddly," a good summation.
