Zoom button disappeared in Lightbox

Hi, I'm using the latest versions of jAlbum and Tiger and I add new images to my website weekly. Although I didn't make structural changes yesterday, I noticed that the zoom button in Lightbox has disappeared and my images are displayed at their original size instead of being resized to fit the screen. This happens in Chrome on my PC and iPadOS. "Show zoom button" and "Use zoom slider" are enabled. I've experimented with different settings to see if the zoom button would reappear and the images would fit the screen. Then I discovered that simply disabling the zoom slider makes the standard Zoom Button reappear and the images fit the screen again. For some reason, the zoom slider is no longer working properly in my case. And one more thing: if I now click the zoom button to return an image to its original size, the zoom button disappears again and only reappears when I select another image.

This is skin-specific, so I'll move it to the Tiger forum section.

I cannot reproduce this bug. Can you please provide me with a link or the jalbum-settings.jap file from the Image directory (Ctrl-Shift-I)?

This is the one with the zoom slider disabled.
And this is a link to my personal website hosted at home. Click an image and then the zoom button to see it disappear: http://www.hpsnet.nl/utilised/computers/index.html

Okay, I just figured out it has to do with the image sizes. All my images are either 1600 by <1600 or <1600 by 1600, so max 1600 by 1600 and everything used to work fine until recently. However I found one directory where the images kept their unprocessed sizes (bigger) and there the zoom button remains visible and the slider works...

Another revelation: if I decrease my browser size to be smaller than my images then the zoom and slider keep working as well. I have a 32" monitor and use a maximised browser so my images are usually smaller than the screen and then the zoom and slider changed bevaviour.

Yes, and the new version also ensures that when you zoom to 1:1, it never exceeds 100%. Previously, the "Max. zoom" setting allowed the image to be zoomed in to 120%.

This would mean all people with similar image, screen and browser sizes lose the zoom and slider options...
Okay, I went back to 7.4.4 and now it's working again. You can see it for yourself if you have a big enough monitor: http://www.hpsnet.nl/utilised/computers/index.html

I don't see why you don't use a larger image size. You can even add a 2x variant. Then everybody could zoom in as much as they wish. I don't see the point in zooming into a small-resolution image.
Also, using WebP is not the best, as AVIF can generate much smaller files with much nicer detail.

I understand your point, but I don't think 1600x1600 is that small, do you? Many of the images on my website are from the internet and are usually much smaller, so if you enlarge them, you get very poor-quality images. Only photos taken with a digital camera are usually larger.

Ah, yes, 1600x1600 is not too small. Could you please explain the issue with the new version?

My website is now back to Tiger 7.4.4. When I open an image in Lightbox, there's a zoom button and zoom slider at the top. When I use Tiger 7.4.6, there are NO zoom buttons or sliders in the top bar anymore, except when the image is larger than the current browser size. The standard zoom button only returns when I disable the zoom slider. When I then use the zoom button, it disappears and only reappears with a different image. So the zoom button and slider behave differently than in version 7.4.4. Of course, they shouldn't disappear at all. Also, in Tiger 7.4.6, the image is no longer enlarged to fill the screen, but remains at its original size, even though all those options are enabled. This does work in Tiger 7.4.4.
tiger_7_4_4.jpg shows the original working situation in 7.4.4
tiger_7_4_6.jpg shows the new situation in 7.4.6 with the SAME settings

I believe displaying the zoom button when no zooming is possible was a bug.
The old version also made the zoom's max. level the same as the Max. Zoom setting. In the recent version, the max zoom is applied only when the image is loaded for the first time, and fit to screen is enabled.
I see the logical problem, though: initially, the image might be zoomed to 1.4x, but once loaded, the skin only allows 1.0x zoom. I don't know yet how to resolve it. While I think it's better not to zoom beyond the 1:1 level, somehow this conflict should be solved. Perhaps I will limit zooming only when the image is large enough, e.g., 1.5x larger than the screen.
