Issues after installing new version Jupiter

Hi,
Yesterday I installed the newest versions of jAlbum and the Jupiter skin. I have a few problems:

-> I have some albums with several photos and a few subfolders. I've set the maximum number of thumbnails to 20 because I don't want to scroll endlessly. Now, when uploading, I get a warning that those subfolders will cause me to exceed the 20 maximum. See: https://www.mk-perspectief.nl/afbeeldingen/Steden/Utrecht/index.html

-> My logo has suddenly become very small on the pages I've uploaded. See respectively https://www.mk-perspectief.nl/afbeeldingen/Regios/index.html (small) and https://www.mk-perspectief.nl/afbeeldingen/Steden/index.html (good)
I can't find a fix in the settings; I've already removed and re-added the logo.

-> The "&" symbol (in, for example, B&B) causes the photo to display an error when you click the thumbnail.

I've searched for solutions, but I can't figure it out.
Can you help me?
Greetz,
Mary (from the Netherlands)

See Jupiter > Title Bar > Logo Image > Maximum width. The default is 200px, but you can set it higher.

The "&" symbol (in, for example, B&B) causes the photo to display an error when you click the thumbnail.

Using an "&" in a file name is forbidden in jAlbum. You can change it, but I would suggest that avoiding those kinds of special characters in file names is the safest practice. But you can go to Tools > Preferences > Projects > Illegal characters and remove "&" from the list.

(There is a related bug in jAlbum, which I will post about in the Bug Reports forum section.)

I'll come back to the pagination question after my coffee....

Thnx, my logo looks a lot better (900px). The only difference is the lack of the border around logo, albumtitle and description. Is that something I can add?

Great tip, about the illegal characters ;-)

It's all coming back to me now.... This is one of those problems that I have repeatedly come back to, in an effort to solve the underlying problem, and every time, it defeats me. In the current version of the skin, I've simply disallowed setting maximum objects if your pages have a mixture of folders and images.

Even in your Utrecht album, made with an older version of Jupiter, you can see one of the problems. Go to page 3, and scroll down to the last thumbnail. Click that last thumbnail, so that you're seeing the slide page for Lange Viestraat.... Now click the "up" arrow. It takes you to page 4 instead of page 3!

This is just one small example of the problems inherent with mixed content - some of the others are much worse, and more obvious. The jAlbum core gets very, very confused about the structure of the album, about how many index pages there are, and how to get from one to another. Most skins do not allow multiple index pages at all, and there are some very good reasons for that. ;)

I'll continue to think it over, to see if I can come up with a better solution. But the underlying problems are simply awful. :(

You're the second user who misses that ability, which means I should probably reintroduce it in the skin settings. ;)

In the meantime, you can add it to your projects - happily, you appear to be using the same custom style for all of them, so it's not overly complicated. Go to Jupiter > Code > CSS, and enter this in the box:
#ja-nothemebox {margin-bottom: 20px;}
#ja-nothemebox > div {border: 1px solid #800000; box-shadow: 10px 10px 10px rgb(0 0 0 / 0.25);}

Oh dear! That's quite a problem. When uploading the Utrecht album, I ran into this problem - there was a kind of growl coming out of my PC!
Perhaps I should temporarily (...) put all the individual images in a separate subfolder.
Thanks in advance for thinking about it - I hadn't discovered the problem you describe in my Utrecht album myself.

Thanx! I will certainly add the code!
Two users with the same problem, that's quite a lot :-)

I just released Jupiter 95, which restores the ability to put a border around a plain, no-theme-image title. You should remove the custom CSS code, which will just collide with the skin settings. See screenshot.

I still don't have any solution to the "multiple index pages with mixed content" problem. To work around it, the skin would have to take over a whole raft of jAlbum core functions, and they're messy, to say the least.

Thanks! That solves my (little) problem of having to re-add your code every time I worked on a different album and wanted to save it! I will certainly install Jupiter 95!

Regarding the "multiple index pages with mixed content" problem: I completely redesigned all the web pages where I encountered this issue :-) So one problem less!

The individual photos are now also in a subfolder, named 'Impressions' or something like that. See https://www.mk-perspectief.nl/afbeeldingen/Steden/Utrecht/index.html.

That's a good workaround. It's usually not a problem - almost no other skins still support multiple index pages on one level, so this glitchy behavior never crops up. With almost all of the other skins, mixing folders and solo images on the same level works just fine, and I often do that in my own albums.
