Using a 'Set of webloc links' in multiple albums

Hi,
I want to use a set of links (somewhere between 6 and 10), which were generated in a source album in several other albums. The image URLs are also defined by the source album.
I have tried several ways to copy/paste into the destination albums with inconsistent results (broken link or image missing) sometimes it works, but I do not know why or why not.

Ideally, I'd like to copy-paste them into the windows folders of the destination albums, this makes uniform modifications in multiple albums quite easy. In this case the webloc files will be present in the destination albums, but not the image URL, even if I include the .webloc.info file there. Instead it goes to the specific site to retrieve an image and title there.

What is the best way to use a set of .webloc links with image URLs in multiple albums?

Can the automatic image/title retrieving be suppressed?

running JA37.7 - thanks, Wolfgang

I've wrestled with this one, and it's very tangled. It's not just the .info file that's involved - the project also caches things like the representing image for the linked site.

I usually just surrender, and create the webloc object in the project where I want it, even if it's really the same as the object in another project.

There's not much advantage to copying and pasting - if the target site is updated, the webloc links don't get updated, anyway. The location, title, image, etc., are all retrieved when you create the webloc. They're never "refreshed."

Jeff,
thanks for the reply - do you think this is something we should bug David about, it may be too specific?

A work-around is an album-of-albums where one can manage the weblocs, which in my case are typically links to other albums and link to it from the individual albums, but it is not quite the same. I was not thinking about a 'refresh' but changing the set of weblocs as new albums get created or disappear at times.

I've had this "on the back burner" for a while. There are other weird problems with webloc's. For example, if the link is to a relative URL rather than an absolute URL, it's almost impossible to change the name of the webloc.

Maybe when the dust settles from the current round of changes (views, representing images, etc.)....
