Hi,

please look at the two files.

https://www.markus-drueck.de/JA/TestCase/2025-10-31/2025%2011%2024%20Svalbard.7z

These files are at:
D:\Users\MDrück\Pictures\JAlbum\2025 11 24 Svalbard

https://www.markus-drueck.de/JA/TestCase/2025-10-31/2025%2011%2024%20Svalbard.zip

These files are at:
D:\Users\MDrück\Pictures\2025 11 24 Svalbard

Output goes to:
D:\Users\My Albums\Master\2025 11 24 Svalbard

I get the following files
D:\Users\My Albums\Master\2025 11 24 Svalbard\2025 11 24 Svalbard\More\Stars\slides\2025-11-24.mp4
D:\Users\My Albums\Master\2025 11 24 Svalbard\Views\Nach Stichwörtern\Sternenhimmel\slides\2025-11-24.mp4
D:\Users\My Albums\Master\2025 11 24 Svalbard\Views\Nach Stichwörtern\Video\slides\2025-11-24.mp4
D:\Users\My Albums\Master\2025 11 24 Svalbard\Views\Von Datum\2025\Sep\slides\2025-11-24.mp4

The first one is OK. But why the other 3 files? The folders "..\Views\Nach Stichwörtern\Sternenhimmel", "..\Views\Nach Stichwörtern\Video" and "..\Views\Von Datum\2025\Sep" are views (obviously). So why do I see the same videos four times, instead of one time?

Have I done something wrong? Please be aware that the video is flagged:
<void method="put">
<string>includeOriginal</string>
<boolean>true</boolean>
</void>

I'm using JA 38 and Tiger 7.0.1.

Thanks.

I think a link to the album might be better. But if you have one video, 2025-11-24.mp4, and three views then in the album there should be four of those videos in total - assuming all of the views include that video in the results.

If that is not the case, for example a single view is showing four copies of the video then I can move this to the Tiger forum - for starters, it may need moving again as I can't sort out what your doing based on those two files.

Original video is within 2025/11 (19) - 2025/11 (19) - Sonstiges (Other) - Sternenhimmel (Stary sky) =
https://www.markus-drueck.de/public/2025%2011%2024%20Svalbard/2025%2011%2024%20Svalbard/More/Stars/index.html#img=2025-11-24.mp4

The other three are all shown within the views below
Containing folder (Ansichten - Views)
Stichwörter - Keywords
Sternenhimmel - Stary sky (Custom view?)
Datum - Date (2025 - Sep)

That seems correct as going back to the root and searching for '2025-11-24.mp4' gives just the one result for the original video.

Thanks Rob for your investigation. It seems to me that this feature ist something completly different than I expected.

Quote from the release notes:
New "Internal linking" concept added, allowing images and videos to be referenced from multiple locations within a gallery. This radically reduces album size and build time for view based galleries.

In my album the size increased!

I tested it with another album which consits of 180 videos with a size of 3.6 GB. And guess what the resulting album increased from 3.6 GB up to more than 9 GB. This is not radically "reduced". :-(

David wrote for his two demo albums:
"Gallery size: 762 MB" (smart version)
"Gallery size: 3.44GB" (dumb version)

My experience (with the test album from this thread) is:
44.3 MB (version without views)
97.6 MB (version with views)

I expected:
44.3 MB (version without views)
~46.0 MB (version with views, just some overhead)

Gues you create 10 "views" and every picture or video is part of the 10 views. Then every objects will be generated 10 times. Is that correct? Right now the answer to that question is "yes", as my sample proves. I really hope that I'm just doing something completely wrong.

Thanks.

Try a much simpler project and use a simple skin that supports views, a slide page skin for example.

You must be doing something very wrong.

Stop experimenting with huge album projects, which is generating a mess that it will take you forever to clean up.

Start a new test project with just a handful of objects in it, like 5 or 6 JPG's and a couple of MP4's. Generate the album. Now add a view, like alphabetical, and make the album again. Now look carefully at the output. You should be seeing only one copy of each of the scaled JPG's and of each of the processed MP4's. The Alphabetically folder should contain only index.html files, with no slides or videos. You'll see some new theme images and thumbnails, which are needed for the new index pages (for the "A" page, the "B" page, and so on).

If that's not what you're seeing, stop. Upload the album somewhere and give us a link. And be sure to include the lifeboat file.

From David’s views and dumb albums The top rated view, sample code
<a href="../slides/IMG_4057.JPG"

The dumb sample code
<a href="slides/IMG_4057.jpg"

Note the view sample is referencing the image in the root folder whilst the dumb sample is referencing a copy of the image in its own folder.

Laza has responded to the post linked above (my observation on view folder’s contents). If it is just Tiger that gives larger albums than expected please respond to his post.

Jeff, this is not a huge album! It has one tiny video, and 67 pictures.

Start a new test project with just a handful of objects in it, like 5 or 6 JPG's and a couple of MP4's. Generate the album. Now add a view, like alphabetical, and make the album again. Now look carefully at the output.
That is what I did.

This is not true for me.

This is the link to that album:

Thanks.

Attachment slidesfolder.png (74.8 KB)

And here's a Tiger album with 3 JPGs and a video, plus an alphabetic view. The output contains only the three slide images, one slide image for the video poster, and one copy of the processed video.

(demo album removed)

(I'll leave it to Laza to figure out why the thumbnail for the alphabetic view is being browser-enlarged to the point that it's blurry.)

And attached are the screenshots of the output. The slidesfolder.png screenshot shows the slides folder at the top level of the output. The alphabetic view folder, shown in viewfolder.png, doesn't have a slides folder at all. Its thumbs folder has only one image, for the folder itself.

Edited by: JeffTucker on 6 Nov 2025, 11:19 - album updated, display problem caused by a beta core version.

I've imported all of your project settings to my test album, and added date and recently added views. I've uploaded the result (same URL).

I'm still getting only one MP4 in the output, at album > slides > Archer.mp4. The alphabetic pages are calling ../../slides/Archer.mp4, as they should - they're pointing up two levels, to the one and only copy of the processed video. The regular page is calling slides/Archer.mp4.

I can't imagine why you're seeing something different.
