Views not working properly

The new views are not working properly with Tiger 7.0.1. Although the view is created as a folder in the Image directory, it is not copied to the album output directory. Therefore, when I preview it, I get a 404 error.

Check if the "Process only updated directories" is OFF.

Naturally, we have checked the Views before releasing, and no such thing has happened so far.

One more thing: if no pictures meet the criteria, no view is generated.

The "Process only updated directories" option is not selected, so it is off.
I created an alphabetically view on Filename. So all images should be included.

All of your other skins: Plain, Photoblogger, Story and Lizard are functioning properly.

I have an iMac M4 running macOS Tahoe 26.0.1

The issue has been resolved. I tested it on an album that was many years old. I created a brand new album, and the views now work without a problem.

Interesting. I wonder what made the old project unusual in some way?

I just did a quick test with a newly-created album, and an alphabetic view had no problem with videos. I also tried to trip it up with some unusual settings, like having it not re-encode the videos, but it all continued to work properly.

If you'd like, I can send you the entire project as a zip file (83 MB)

Maybe just the project settings, jalbum-settings.jap. I can plant my own images and videos in it, just to see what happens.

More out of curiosity than anything else, of course - not my skin!

Thanks. :)

Here is my settings file. Please delete it from the forum if you downloaded it.

Done. Nothing odd in the settings (other than setting the video resolution to 480p, which is tiny). But an album does fail!

Time to try some sleuthing....

This is getting very weird. There is something in your settings file that's preventing the generation of the folder for the alphabetical view. In the output, Alphabetic/index.html hasn't been created.

It doesn't seem to be related to the presence of videos, and it's not even skin-dependent. I just can't find it....

Found it!!

In older versions of jAlbum, under Settings > Advanced > General, there was a setting that allowed you to tell jAlbum not to include directories. That option was eliminated, but it's set to false and is still lurking in your own project file.

I'll take this up with David - the current jAlbum version should ignore that old setting, or at least force it to true.

Just as a quick test, open the project that is failing for you, open the image directory, close the project, then open jalbum-settings.jap in a text editor. Search for the following variables, and set them both to true and save the file:
includeDirectories
subdirs
Reopen the project, and try making an album.

Yes, that works. I set the variable "subdirs" to true. "includeDirectories" was already set to true. The view is now working. I can also see that the index pages are being created and that the metadata of the images is being read during "make."
