Panorama function in Tiger doesn't work for me

Hi,
in my gallery there are a few pictures that are panoramas. These pictures are only shown more or less fitting into the screen.
I want them to be shown as moving panoramas.
I have enabled "Enable panorama movement" in the configuration of Tiger and I have checked "Panorama" in the "Image data" of the specific files. Unfortunately to no avail :-(.

Especially one foto, which is 8197 x 2103 pixels, is pressed together in order to make the width fit into the screen, which looks not very good. An enlargement and movement would make it much better.

What might I be doing wrong?
Thanks for your answer!

Regards
Wolfgang

I think you need to set the image bounds so that the wide aspect ratio of the pano image is preserved. Settings > Images > General > Image bounds > Images, set it to something like 10000x1200.

The other way to do it is to leave the image bounds at their default 1600x1200, but tell jAlbum to use the original of the pano image. Right-click on the pano's thumbnail in the Explore view and choose Use original. That way, jAlbum won't scale the image at all - the Tiger lightbox will just be showing the original image.

Hi Jeff,

many thanks for your answer.
I was on the right way ;-) I had looked at the "Image bounds" but wasn't aware of being allowed to edit the ratio by hand.
Also I had found "include original", but overseen "use original".
So now, with image bounds set to 10000 x 1200 plus "use original" plus checking "Panorama" in the "Image data" the largest image indeed is moving as I had hoped. So this seemed okay, but only with all three things!
BUT
I have three more fotos with about 6000x2500 px, checked the same things as above but they are not shown as panorama. Strange! Perhaps Tiger "thinks" that the ratio is not enough for a panorama (despite marking it as such)?
mysterious ...

Many regards
Wolfgang

Yes, it appears that an aspect ratio of 2.4 : 1 is not enough, even though you're telling Tiger that it's a pano. My experiments tell me that the cutoff point is 3.0 : 1.

You could compromise and selectively crop the image to 3:1, which is one of the predefined crop ratios.

The threshold for horizontal panoramas is 1.8, so in theory, that image should be handled as a panorama. You can also use right-click -> Tiger -> Panorama to instruct the skin to treat it as a panorama, regardless of its dimensions. Perhaps including the original is what messes with the logic. Can you please turn it off for a test?

I'll add an info popup for the "Enable panorama movement" setting to remind users that they need to adjust the image dimensions for this feature to work.

Good morning,
" ... You can also use right-click -> Tiger -> Panorama to instruct the skin to treat it as a panorama, regardless of its dimensions."
I did that, but it doesn't help. As far as I can see, I've tried all three options (use and or include original, image bounds large or not so large, checking Tiger->Panorama) in any combination, but it doesn't help.
I will try out the next hours and be back to you.

Back again

I have discovered that the panorama feature is a complex interplay of several factors: the size and aspect ratio of the image, the "image bounds" configuration, "fit to screen" yes or no, full screen or not, or whether or not using the zoom function while viewing. I haven't found a uniform setting.
That's a pity, but I also understand that there is obviously no way to predict what images a user will set and how he/she specifically want to view them. In that respect, it's fine with me.

Thank you all for your help and have a nice weekend :-)
Wolfgang
