About page question

Hello!
I have a question regarding the About page. More specifically, regarding what should appear in the main text section of the About page.
There is the "text" section, which one would expect to appear on the page. It's where anything and everything can be placed.
Then there is the section below (see the circled part of the attached image). I am curious if that is also supposed to appear on the main page by design. It seems redundant, because if I were to include that, I could have just as easily added it to the text section above.
So the question... is it by design or is it unintentional (an error) that both sections appear in the main text on the About page? I wouldn't think BOTH would need to be...
I hope I made that clear.
My about page
Thanks,
Jeff

The template design was intentional, it goes back to when templates were introduced, jAlbum 10.4. Wiki entry for the about page https://jalbum.net/help/en/Adding_template_pages#Add_an_About_page
I think the main reason was to make it easy to enter a lot of text without having to resize the ‘comment’ section at the bottom.
Skins designers can decide if they want to include jAlbum’s ‘comments’ or not, if included then they could be before or after the ‘About’ text. The designer can also decide if the two fields should be styled the same or differently.
In short use either or both depending upon the result you want/like and which entry method you prefer.
That’s my take on it.

Skins designers can decide if they want to include jAlbum’s ‘comments’ or not,
If I were the skin developer in this case, I think I'd use the jAlbum comment for an index page thumbnail, but then not use it at all when displaying the About page. Of course, that raises the question of what the jAlbum title for that page should be used for! Too many chunks of text to deal with.
But yes, it's a skin developer choice, so if you want it to behave differently, you need to pester Laza.

Thanks, all.
I'll do just that, and hopefully he'll say something when he sees this.

It’s been this way for thirteen years, so good luck with any change request.

The answer is always "no" unless you ask.

I'm fairly sure this has come up before. The thread has probably been deleted by now. I routinely clear out old threads that, because they're dealing with much older versions of the skin, are no longer relevant and can be, in fact, misleading.
But I have a recollection of having exactly this discussion, to wit, why is the jAlbum comment being shown on the About page itself?
In short, I think it has been asked.

I use Photoblogger now since few years and the About page as never been a problem for me, see picture attached. I have no such tags into the comment box. You can simply, I think, delete the content of this box to solve the problem, but.... I am not English tongue, and maybe I do not have fully understand ... well

You understand perfectly. It's just that I use that code in the comment box elsewhere. See the sidebar of my about page from the link in the original post.

I'm particularly puzzled in this case. On Jeff's page of paintings, I'm not seeing a link to his About page anywhere. I was thinking that it might appear as a thumbnail, with the comment as part of the thumbnail caption. So, I'm not sure why he's entering a comment for it at all.

If it's been that long, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to revisit the reasoning. Hopefully, he won't mind answering again if the reasoning is the same, and if things have changed sufficiently, perhaps a rethink might be possible.
Thanks!

It should be at the bottom of every page. (see ddimage0)
I've utilized the comments throughout my site as the top of the sidebar. The only area where this appears inconsistent is on the About page, where the text is duplicated in the main content. (see ddimage1)
It's easier to scroll to the bottom of this page. to find the About link

I see. On the pages of your site, there's an awful lot going on.

If the about text and skin are not going to be changed, you could convert the project’s About.htt from a dynamic link to a copy. Then you could edit the copy and remove the comment variable and remake the album.
I don’t know if PhotoBlogger is the only bundled skin that has a configuration that lets this duplication happen.
