Just tried the new Google Photos importer. It got a lot, but crashed.
This is all the info I got from the error dialog box.

See attached file for the error.

Thanks for reporting. Please re-download the Google Photos importer from https://jalbum.net/download/GooglePhotosImporter.jaext and reinstall it by either double-clicking on it or dropping it onto jAlbum's window. When done, restart jAlbum and try again. This should produce a better error telling what image caused the trouble. Once identified, please attach it here so I can reproduce and fix this.

There is a workaround, but please do pass the triggering image nevertheless. To work around this issue, open Preferences->Advanced->Image writers and untick "GeoSolutions TurboJPEG writer", then try again.

Thanks for the troubleshooting steps.
I have installed the downloaded Google Photos importer and reinstalled. After a restart of jAlbum, ran it against the directory with the Takeout photos.

This time, it did not crash, but took errors. The PNG files are understandable, as TurboJPEG doesn't handle them according to the console.

I am attaching the console output, a screenshot of the jAlbum error notice, and the offending files.

Oops, the images exceed the size limit here.
You can find them at (link removed)

After you retrieve the zip file, I will delete it. Kindly let me know.

Correct

Now I've corrected the Google Photos Importer. It also picks up the people in the images, (presenting them as keywords for now)

Just re-download and install the importer. It should say v1.1

Thanks, it now works well.
I have a suggestion. If there are heic files no image data is preserved. It would be nice to have that when converting to jpg. I do not know if the import without conversion retains the image data.

If you do the import WITH conversion to JPEG, then image data should be injected as xmp data within each image. I've just tested and it works here. Unfortunately we can't inject xmp into HEIC files right now.

FYI: I've updated the installers so they also include this update to the Google Photos importer.

Thanks.
I believe that something prevented the import of really old files, taken with an ancient Nikon.
The import target has zero image file but had all the json files.
I don't consider this an issue as it skipped the entire source directory of images only taking the json.

No problem, I just didn't need these images anyway, they were in the takeout and I noticed.

The files without exif were random and out of 48 GB, I'd say less than 50.

I do only export/convert from heic to jpg.

Thanks again for the quick great work.
