If you host your albums on jalbum.net, you can password-protect an album, and it's possible to password-protect one folder within that album. You can't do this during the upload, but after uploading, you can connect to your jalbum.net hosting account, choose a folder within an album, and apply a password to it.
If you host your albums on your own web host, the operating system can provide password-protection at the folder (directory) level. You would need to contact your web host to learn how to do that. This is not something that the jAlbum software can do (it's technically impossible).
You might also have problems with an album in which one or more folders are password-protected. The album might have trouble retrieving things like the folder thumbnail images, so you might have broken images on the upper pages.
