Hello,

I have just installed Photoblogger as a test, and I notice that the responsive display doesn't really work on my iPhone 15 Pro. The images are not displayed completely, i.e. they are too large to be displayed on the iPhone.

I always have to click on the “zoom in” arrows first and then on the “zoom out” arrows again.

Is there a way to change this somewhere?

Please give us a link to an album that illustrates this problem.

Could you please delete the link after you have viewed the page? It will be a while before the page is public.

Puzzling. I'm seeing the same problem on my iPhone 14, but only with a few of the images, and only upon the first viewing of the album. I can't detect the pattern.

Quick example: upon my initial viewing of the second folder, image #36, it first appears zoomed in, rather than fitted.

Laza and Rob: I'll email you the link.

One quick suggestion: try removing all of the image variants under Settings > Images > General > Variants. These are unnecessary, yield a bloated album, and may be the source of this problem.

ETA: In their place, just use larger image bounds, like 2000x1500 instead of 1000x750.

ETA: And under Settings > Images > Advanced, choose HiDPI thumbnails. They'll look better, and the file sizes are still small. Don't bother with HiDPI images - that just produces absurdly large file sizes, but with no real visible improvement.

Thank you very much first of all. I won't get to it for about two hours.

Ich hatte in der Zwischenzeit die Seite neu aufgesetzt. Du findest sie unter …/fotos2
In the meantime I had rebuilt the page. You can find it under .../fotos2

One quick suggestion: try removing all of the image variants under Settings > Images > General > Variants. These are unnecessary, yield a bloated album, and may be the source of this problem.

(Sorry, I forgot to insert the translation). I insert two screenshots of how it looked at first and how it looks now (I have to translate everything with Deepl as my English is not that perfect). Anyway, I have removed the variants now.

ETA: In their place, just use larger image bounds, like 2000x1500 instead of 1000x750.

That's what I did now.

ETA: And under Settings > Images > Advanced, choose HiDPI thumbnails. They'll look better, and the file sizes are still small. Don't bother with HiDPI images - that just produces absurdly large file sizes, but with no real visible improvement.

I did it.

But it looks as if there will be no change. I have of course emptied the cache.

I also tried HiDPI slide images, but that didn't change anything either.

I’ll have to leave this one to Laza, since I don’t know what the skin is doing internally.

I tried on iPhone 13/Safari; at first, all images were fine. Then, a large image appeared, and all subsequent pictures were oversized, even those that had been loaded in normal size before. Then I refreshed the page, and the magnification returned to normal again. I have never seen such before. I need to digest this problem a bit, because as I know, the same code with the same data is supposed to yield the same output. Perhaps the NGINX server you use sends incomplete images when it comes from the cache, or broken headers?

This is the third or fourth attempt to find the best way to present my pictures. If I remember correctly, there was no such problem at the beginning. Unfortunately, I can no longer reproduce it.

Sometimes I find the settings a bit confusing, so I keep trying to make small changes, recreate the album and have a look at the result locally. Only then do I upload the data to the server.

I really like Photoblogger and I think the service is excellent. Unfortunately, I don't understand this sentence: “Perhaps the NGINX server you use sends incomplete images when it comes from the cache, or broken headers?” How can I check this?

Or could it be that something has gone wrong with my settings?

I have started a new attempt with different pictures. The attempt can be found here: …/fotos3

Now, for example, I have not succeeded in centering the “logo”.

Could it have something to do with the fact that I have a “fixed form grid” and 16:9? See screenshot.

It is not only a problem with the responsive display, but also with the display on the computer.

The apple is not fully displayed in .../fotos3 for me.

This is what I see on a typical 1920x1080 monitor.

However, the "Peace is Power" photo, the first in the gallery, does not display properly on an iPhone unless I zoom in, then zoom out again.

This is not a server problem - I see the same issue when using that slide image to make a new album, and view it locally.

The image bounds are 1000x750, but with HiDPI images selected. But even if I change the image bounds to 2000x1500, and de-select HiDPI images, I still get the bad result.

In fact, the display isn't correct even on my large desktop monitor.

Here's my test album, with just one image:
