Ability for user to switch to black background

I have for long been thinking of an option for users to switch between dark/light background color. Both on thumbs-page and in lightbox.
You know that kind of button/symbol with sun/moon :) -either during lightbox viewing or on the page with thumbs.
The most common way to do this is -what ever kind of light/white background I make as standard, the user is able to switch to black background.
I use Story mostly and would love to see that option there :)
Could something like that be done?

Moving to Story forum, as it seems you want the option for the album, not the project viewed in jAlbum.

Unfortunately, the skin has too many customizable colors, and it calculates readable colors based on these, so figuring all of these on the fly would be almost impossible. Perhaps I could make a new style that implements such behavior. But I prefer the lightbox to be always dark—an all-white theme would be too much, IMO.

I rarely use a non-black lightbox, but it can be very effective. You do have to keep it really simple and lean.

Hmm.. not sure I follow how ' too many customizable colors' will matter -but then you're the expert guys! :) ..
But I wonder if I explained myself correct. I would not need any new Story skin. In all the vary of Story skins I can change the background in the page itself (with thumbs and so) AND the lightbox. Right? And I would not change that at all.
But even if I made any of the backgrounds white, light, yellow, or even dark grey or whatever -all the new, front end button (the moon) would do is to change the any color I might have set up to black background with white text.

Take a look at the 'moon' on my webpage:
https://www.ragnarfredrik.com/

I would like the same possibility here:
https://www.ragnarfredrik.com/album/Fredrikstad_by/2025/index.html

And in this lightbox:
https://www.ragnarfredrik.com/album/Fredrikstad_by/2025/index.html#img=20250323_125311x.jpg

I would like the user to click a 'moon' and switch to this:
https://www.ragnarfredrik.com/album/Decay_ruins/2025-2023/index.html#img=20250302_131116.jpg

I know this is a cosmetic thing -but also very useful -as our eyes works so differently.. some like everything as black as possible while others want it light...:)...
But I also understand if it's a too big thing to add. It's just a suggestion ;)

You may not be aware of all the color calculations the skin makes. In most places, the skin calculates the text and icon colors automatically from the background color so they remain readable. Because background colors can be transparent, it's not a trivial calculation. It's not enough to find a contrasty text color; the skin has to recalculate the link (and hover) colors, too. Yes, with a plain page, there is only one background and text color, which is easy to invert. But Story skin creates 20 extra colors from the 12 colors the user inputs.
