The thumbnails of the folders are 600x400, which permits to load them fast. However, is there a way to make them a bit bigger ?

The size of the folder thumbnails is automatically calculated from the number of folder columns and other parameters. I don't see why you want to make them bigger.

To have a better definition, the thumbnails look a bit blurry at 600x400.

The skin calculates the exact size needed for a 1:1 display. If the image is blurry, it is probably because of the source material. Can you give me a link to such a blurry image?

BTW, I suspect we are not talking about the same image, as the images used for folder thumbnails are rarely exactly 600x400, as their size is calculated.

You can also try using HiDPI thumbnails or add a 2x JPEG variant.

I am talking about thumbnails used for folder Icon. They are displayed in 600x400 (as I have downloaded them from site) even though the picture is 1200x800.
Choosing HiDPI thumbnails reframes the pictures and changes their original proportions.

I still don't understand. See the attachment! Neither of these has 600x400 resolution. In jAlbum's terminology, the folder icon is when no image is found in a folder, and the skin is using the folder icon (generic) graphic. Are you using an old skin version?

HiDpi should never give a result other than the normal thumbnail.

Can you please give a link to the album we are talking about?

Hello,
I'm using the updated version. However, I'm still working on an offline version of my site. I'm talking about a picture which is in the folder and which I indicate to be used as the folder thumbnail : it's this one which, when downloaded to be checked, is 600x400. When I tick HiDpi, it reframes the pictures which are in the folder (which are displayed when I click on this folder). So finally, I'll do with it and won't change anything; like this folders load fast and that's an advantage.
Thanks

What you're describing doesn't match anything about the way this skin works, or about the way the jAlbum core handles HiDPI thumbnails, so we just don't understand what you're talking about.

Create a little test album with just one or two folders, each with maybe ten images. Then upload it, and post a link to it here.

Unwanted re-framing of the HiDPi images seems to be solved with the 6.2.3 update of May 20th, indeed.
