An FTP Error on Upload

I recently changed the names of the online folders for my two albums and now I'm getting this FTP error.

          • Error processing newer album (upload): *****
info.cqs.remotefs.RemoteFSException: com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FTPException: 550 /public_html/gallery-newer: No such file or directory

The source folder is "\..\gallery newer and the ouput folder is \..\newer album

and I can't figure out what needs changed so any help would be greatly appreciated and TIA.

Have you double checked what you’ve done follows
https://jalbum.net/help/en/Publish_to_your_own_site
Can you see your old site in the upload window?

Yes, I have set up the FTP accounts as per that help file, at least I think I have. See attached.

Originally I had been using "gallery-newer" as the folder name for both input and output folders. But when Jeff gave me grief over using the word "gallery" instead of "album," I changed it. I didn't have any issues until I changed hosting services (thanks again, Jeff,) to Hostinger.

So instead of pointing to "gallery-newer" it should be pointing to the "newer album" folder.
As you can see in the screen shots, the old (Hostgator) and new (Hostinger) FTP accounts have been created.

The problem is, my Upload button is greyed out and to upload I have to Connect and then manually navigate to the kilobravo.com/public_html folder in the upload dialog box to get things to work. That uploads normally but why is my Upload button greyed out as is the magnifying glass icon?

You haven't done point 2 in the guide.
The wrong folder is the web root.
And you are trying to create a destination folder outside of the public_html folder.

Anca: Yes, to answer your previous question as to whether I can see the old site in the upload window. You can see it at the top of the folder list in the "01" capture file I posted above.

I'm not trying to send it there which would be at the root, I want it to go to the folder indicated in the attached screen shot.

If I navigate to the "newer album" folder manually, the upload works normally but the problem is, I can't figure out how to make JA just use this folder all the time. Somwhere in the settings "gallery-newer" needs to be removed and I see it in the Settings file but I am not confident editing it for fear of making things worse.

Thank you for your time and I hope this is a simple resolution.

But you still haven't set the web root correctly. The root of your FTP account is now marked as web root. It should be the public_html folder, as point 2 in the guide says.

My apologies for being a dumbo Anca but I'll continue in that vain with this question..

How DO I change the site root, I can't seem to see how?

Right click the folder that represents the root of your web site and select "Mark as web root". You will now be asked to confirm or correct the web address of your site.

I'm sure you all get ever so tired of less-than-savvy members and in my case, I apologize. Been mashing keys since the '80's and while I used to be pretty sharp, at 72 my A game has slipped.

Nonetheless Anca, thank you for that last bit of info and WHY I didn't try right clicking that folder is beyond me but, that did the trick and I am back in business so thank you.

Was there something about the wiki help page that that was unclear?
Did you not get the error message in step 2, which says to 'Right-click the folder that holds your site and select Mark as web root.'?

Just wondering how we can edit the page to make the instructions clear in your particular case.

Rob: I only thought to search the messages and the Wiki page alluded me, again my apologies. But no, I certainly don't remember getting the prompt about right clicking which is not to say I DIDN'T get it and completely missed it.

I think what gave me the most pause was the reference to "this site." I think of my domain as my "site" but I learned that each album is a site and in fact, they obviously are, incredible "sites" IMHO, I just wasn't thinking that way.

Wish I could be of more help.

Thanks. I’ll add a note about getting a greyed out upload button and to check the web root is correct.
