With the standard, distributed jAlbum, I can't flip an image at all.
I cleaned out everything, and reinstalled jAlbum 36.1 from the site download. No core update, no new filters, nothing. No problem making an album. But if I select just one image and invoke the "flip" filter, I immediately get an error, and the edit mode doesn't even present me with the vertical/horizontal choice.
Console dump attached.

I'll take another shot at it. But Windows makes it exceedingly difficult to install, for example, 36.1 and 36.1.5. Lots of conflicts, and offers to "repair" the app. In short, it doesn't regard these as being truly separate.

No joy. With a very clean uninstall/reinstall of jAlbum 36.1, including a reboot before reinstalling, the "straighten" and "flip" filters fail with the error I posted above. The other filters - crop, auto-correct, brightness, and gamma - behave normally.

The new image filters rely on an update to jAlbum that's you get with a core update (v36.1.5)

Rob, please pass me the test image you used. I expected better performance

David, this was a fresh install of jAlbum 36.1. No new filters at all. I completely wiped out C:\Program Files\jAlbum after uninstalling. Then I reinstalled 36.1, did no core update, and did no filter replacement. This is the "as distributed" version that fails.

... and no jAlbumFilters.jaext" lurking under <config>/ext/ or <config>/lib either? That error refers to a method call I added the last few days. It isn't present with the official jAlbumFilters.jaext

My apologies - yes, that's it! At some point, I dragged the new filters into the app, so it stashed them in my config directory.
I'll have to leave this for a bit. My house went on the market yesterday, and there are already 16 scheduled showings to potential buyers. Not sure how this works in other places, but in the U.S., when an agent shows your house, they want you out of there entirely. I'm going to be a gypsy for a few days, trying to find warm places to hide.

I recommend a cosy place, Longyearbyen, closest settling to the north pole.
Juuuuust a bit too far, since I'll have to be here to (I hope) negotiate a contract of sale. Thursday, for example, I may be spending a fair amount of time in an old Forester with the engine running (to keep warm), parked on a side street away from the house, playing solitaire on my phone.
