Here's jAlbum 36.1 beta for testing!
Changes:
- jAlbum now runs on arm based Linux distros as well as Intel based
- Multi-screen aware: jAlbum now remembers the last screen, position and size of windows (see Preferences-General)
- The integrated browser now plays videos as well (licensing issue fixed)
- Improved full screen support on integrated browser
- The location editor can now be undocked to a separate window
- Explorer now supports PgUp, PgDown, Home and End navigation
- Usability: Folder tree triangles only show if there are sub folders now
- Usability: Folder tree doesn't expand unless one hits a triangle or double-clicks
- Better keyboard focus behaviour for integrated browser on Linux
- Generates project previews from recent project list as well
What do you think?
Installers:
Windows: https://jalbum.net/download/jAlbum-install.exe
Mac (Intel): https://jalbum.net/download/jAlbum.dmg
Mac (M-series): https://jalbum.net/download/jAlbum-M.dmg
Linux (Debian): https://jalbum.net/download/jalbum_36.1-1_amd64.deb
Linux (arm-Debian): https://jalbum.net/download/album_36.1-1_arm64.deb

Some quick "morning coffee" tests....

Works fine. That one was a killer, though not as bad as the days when most browsers had no MP4 support, and you needed some messy third-party app!
* The location editor can now be undocked to a separate window
Love this. Being able to navigate in a larger window makes this function much more usable. Enough to make me forget about Picasa.
* Explorer now supports PgUp, PgDown, Home and End navigation
Seems solid.

One unresolved issue, from a long, twisted thread....
See the screenshot.
Minor issue, the tooltip is mangled - but I can "feel" why that one's tough to deal with! It's not a single frame, and the browser needs to be in the foreground.
The remaining glitch is what happens if you ALT-click the Preview icon while the integrated browser is showing. Instead of launching the external browser, it just returns you to the Explore view. ALT-clicking a second time finally does launch the external browser, of course. Not a big deal, but I have to think that it wouldn't be too tough to address.

Hard to fix I think (it's a JxBrowser effect)

Ah, now fixed in https://jalbum.net/download/beta/jalbum-core.jar

I notice far better playback frame rate as well now

I suspected as much. Not really worth any effort.

Yes, that's nailed it.

I'm having problems with the location function. I opened the Sample Portfolio and edited the image of the stagg, which has no gps data. Then I entered Scotland in the search and got a pin, sometimes red sometimes grey. I can move the red pin to another location but the grey pin is static. Move from that image to another and back, both the red and grey pins are shown. Exit mode and re-enter and both pins still shown.
Then I look at the metadata and I see
xmp.exif:GPSLatitude=57,16.666560000000175N
xmp.exif:GPSLongitude=3,34.992900000000006W
But the location pane shows
57.277776,-3.583215
Finally, I'd prefer the method of detaching the pane to be the same as the histogram, as I suggested before. At the moment when you detach the location pane it is still shown in the edit mode panel, unlike the histogram that disappears until re-docked.
Attached a couple of images of the location pane to show the double pins.

When I do search and get just a grey pin there is no co-ordinates shown at the bottom

undocking is now not showing after a restart, had a crash and it must have affected it.

The grey pin represents the location you've searched for. That's why you can't move it. Just move the red pin.

In positioning, a longitude or a latitude can be expressed in numerous formats. The most common are decimal degrees and degrees/minutes/seconds, but there is numerous others, sometimes strange.
It is easy to see that the second coordinate you give are in decimal degrees; the minus sign indicates a west hemisphere for the longitude.
The values extracted from Xmp metadata are expressed in degrees/decimal minutes (the value before the comma is the degrees, the value after is the minutes in fractional form -- there is no seconds part here)
So, these two coordinates are the same location, but expressed in different forms.
Google Maps and many other tools are able to accept different formats of coordinates as input, but display their result in a different format. For example, you can enter this the search box of Google Maps: "57 16.6665N 3 34.9929W". The map is centered on this location, but also display the coordinates in d/m/s and decimal degrees.

Ah, failing eyesight (mistook the comma for a dot), old age (hence the eye sight problem), in a rush to go to bed (dog tired) and plain stupidity (no excuse for that one) - yes my mistake.
Thanks.

Yes it has changed. The gray pin simply shows the last searched location. It isn't stored with the image, and can't be moved unless you search somewhere else.

OK, not as nice but at least it works again.

Thanks Marcus,
Are your two additional screens having the same resolution? (Due to bugs on Mac (at least) I'm not using the screens' ID but their resolution in order to pick the right screen)
I've addressed so the location editor remembers the last position and size as well. Will be available in the upcoming release.
