How to NOT upload images to album.net
Posted: 15 Nov 24, 13:37

I have a standard account without data and upload my images to an account with an other provider but still I see all my albums and photo's on album.net. Can I disable that. I only want to see my images on my own, third party, website. Now I see them on both.

Your albums are being uploaded only to your own webhost. There is a thumbnail for each one on your profile page here, but those are just pointers to the actual albums. Nothing is being uploaded to jalbum.net.

If you don’t want the thumbnails for your albums visible you can sign out of the application

You can delete the thumbnails that are on your profile page now. Mouse-hover on the down-arrow on each one, and choose Delete album. That won't delete the album from your own webhost - it will delete only the profile page pointer to it.

And the upload of an album is faster without being signed in.
As the last part of an album upload was "updating profile page" which took several seconds to like 10 seconds. When updating several albums it feels like a long time ;-)

We'll look into that delay. It shouldn't be 10s long, and can probably be set up in the background as well.

It could be because my internet connection is not the best. Router with mobile 4g connection on VPN.

Good to know. The client software only does a short web request to notify your profile page about the new gallery. There isn't much data transferred. Anyway, if you sign out, then this update never occurs.

The server fetches the image representing the album, scales it and stores it, and then responds. For a slow website and large representing images this can take time.
However, the server has responded in between 0.4s and 0.8s to those requests made November 15 for "swaggie". So very far from any 10 seconds.

Guess you have to check 40-50 album uploads to get an average time as that where the amount of albums I uploaded in about 2 to 3 days.
Normally it took several seconds with worst value of 10 sec to a few hangs which I aborted and restarted jAlbum.
The last (say 10) uploads were the quickest (could be because these contained the least images).
Somewhere on the 15th I logged out of the jAlbum account as advised in the beginning of this thread.
For me the issue is solved as I do not need to be logged in on jAlbum.

My initial check was for the albums uploaded November 15, but extending the search to Nov 13 and 14 reveals one call that took 0.91 s. Average time was 0.55s for all the 70 uploads (possibly some albums uploaded twice).

Normally it took several seconds with worst value of 10 sec to a few hangs which I aborted and restarted jAlbum.
I can't of course see what happened beyond our servers. If the network is bad, then that will take time too.

Adding the link to jAlbum shouldn't be depending on the number of images. And I can't see any difference in execution time for those.

Somewhere on the 15th I logged out of the jAlbum account as advised in the beginning of this thread.

It would be interesting to see where the delay really is, to see if there is room for improvements. But if you're good, so are we... :)

Thanks for looking into this. Like I wrote, for me the issue can be close as I have no issue any more after logging out of jAlbum.
But if you want to pursue further for the benefit of jAlbum and need some data from me than I am happy to supply that.
