Question about photo data

Hello Laza,

I am looking for a way to display additional information for each image. The photo data function looks very promising. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the subject.

I discovered that with XnView I can give my images an embedded comment.

In the metadata of the image I found:
Png-text.Textual Data=Comment: “my comment”

What do I have to enter in Tiger - lightbox -buttons - photo data so that only this is displayed?

Best-
Micha

Here an example image where I added an embedded comment.

I have so far only used jAlbum to add data to the images and I definitely want to avoid losing this data, e.g. if it is overwritten by empty data from the XMP. You can see my settings in the screenshot.

@davidekholm I ideally would like to have another input field in jAlbum in addition to file name, title, comment and keywords. I would like to have this information displayed at the touch of a button, as with Tiger|photo data. Would that also be possible?

I don't see how losing Xmp.description is more of a threat than the non-standard "Png-text.Textual Data".

To display this data add this line to the metadata template block:
LabelForThisField=Png-text.Textual Data

Thank you Laza. It works and I can see that the output is quite limited.

It would be ideal if the user could create a text field with line breaks.

Attached is an example with all the dream features with maximum expected length and italic and bold letters.
It would also be nice if the photo data icon could be more neutral (no camera) and the name could be defined by the user (not photo data). These would be the wishes if I could wish for anything. :)

What do you think, could such a long comment system be implemented? Maybe as a paid feature, I pay for the programming and it is then available for everyone in the next version?

I don't know how to get David into this thread, it doesn't seem to work with an @ in front of the name. The question would be where to put the long comment information - as another input field next to file name, title, comment and keyword?

I'm still curious why the comment is not good. That handles linebreaks, bold text, color, or whatever formatting.

The comment is already used as short info for the thumbnails, I need a second comment for detailed information on the final image level - short comment and long comment.

Here is an example from the website, a scientific album for wild bee researchers. My wife and I have been working on this for about 10 years and would like to take it to the next level. A longer description should describe the characteristics of the individual bees and point out the possibilities of confusion with other species.

You can use any metadata in the caption templates by adding "meta." before its name. Here's an example:
<div class="serial">${meta.Body Serial Number}</div>
