No Captions Again
Posted: 29 Aug 24, 01:52

My apologies² Jeff but I have the same issue that I had in this thread but unfortunately, I can't solve it despite having the screen shots you attached in that thread.

I'm nearly always only in the Explore tab where I enter captions either normally or, with the HTML editor. SOW, is there a reason Copy/Paste doesn't work in the latter?)

Anyway when I fired JA up yesterday, the only data under the tn's was the filename and hovering didn't provide the prompt to enter a caption or to enter the HTML editor. In essence, it's like the files are locked.

I've checked the images and the captions are still present in the files. I have searched for the past hour and failed miserably on finding a solution here. No doubt it's something I did but all was well when I closed the software the previous time including the upload. . Not sure what happened to the header image but obviously while doing some image housecleaning earlier that day, I screwed something else up. :=)

Attached are screengrabs of my Explore tab in Recent and the settings pages from Folders and Images, running what I believe is the current version, 35.1 Other than that, can't think of anything else to include that might be helpful.

TIA, Jeff.

Attachment explore.png (12.1 KB)
In your screenshot of the Explore view, look at the upper right. You have told jAlbum to show you the File name, and that's what it's doing. If you choose Title, instead, you will see the titles. If you choose Comment, it will show you the comments.

There really isn't anything more to it than that.

Screenshot.

Geeze, talk about a gigantic DUH.. I know I'm getting dumber by the day Jeff but this one is over-the-top stupid. At least it was an easy reply for you I guess. <smile>

All is well now and I have added an entry to my "jalbum-notes.txt" file in the hopes of keeping my failing brain cells from asking another el stupido question.

You made my day as always sir and I can't thank you enough.

You might consider changing to the details view as that can show titles, comments, keywords and more. What is shown is set by a preference setting, https://jalbum.net/help/en/jAlbum/Preferences#Details_view_fields

That would be useful Jeff but I have far too many images to manage and Details would require miles of scrolling but thanks for the tip. Right now, I'm on cloud nine that the two galleries are intact, thanks to you.

That was RobM who suggested the Details view, not me. I make only good suggestions. ;)
