Can't get theme image down anymore...

I used to have no problem with just reducing an image of mine to about half the original res and loading it as a theme image using Tiger most of the time, but it seems lately that I can't get an image small enough. Where are the specific instructions for this since the images are terrible quality. 160 X 600 seems a little odd.

I'm rather puzzled by this question. Because a theme image is spread, in the background, across most or all of the viewport, it should be large, not small. Ideally, it should be at least 2000px wide.

When I googled the question for jAlbum, I got this "For the best result the header image should be 980 pixels wide and 180 pixels high. Larger images will be cropped to fit this size and smaller images will not be able to fill up the entire top area. Remember that this image can't be larger than 1MB either."
It didn't make any sense to me either, because I can't get anything to fit in the them image slot. Here's the example I'm working on. https://hallettfotoshoppe.com/KART-8-16-24/
Thanks

The 980px suggestion came for an older version when no page-wide hero was possible, only "content-wide". The page-wide theme image is around 1960x240 pixels on an HD monitor - which is unusually wide. Here are the options to fix this:
- You can opt for the content-wide layout by turning off the "Full width" option.
- You can make the hero image taller (it's 240px by default) to have a better cutout.
- Add a separate, wide theme image for the hero, drag-and-drop to the "Theme image" area on the right, and right-click → exclude.
- You can skip the theme image altogether if you cannot find one that fits.
And don't forget you can select the center of the theme image manually by moving the highlighted area on the right "Theme image" box.

True, but if jAlbum provided images, they could engage in some subliminal marketing. Think Stonehenge, but with an almost indetectable image of Dor peaking out from behind a sarsen.

Cool. But an upright Dor dressed in Druid garments at the summer solstice would be epic.

Dor is Swedish Reformed Druid. Spruce, rather than oak trees.

Where do you find this option?
- You can opt for the content-wide layout by turning off the "Full width" option.

See screenshot.
BTW, if you just type width into the search box at upper right, jAlbum will show you all the places where the settings mention that. Clicking on one of the entries in the search results will take you directly to that setting. See search.png.
