Hello all ....

I am wanting to add a counter to my album. JAlbum version 35.01. Signed iin at jalbum.net. Metadata check box (widget support) is checked. The Counter widget box is checked but there appears to be no Counter.
Could anyone explain where I am going awry please?

Many thanks

The album must be listed on your profile page here. You can host it anywhere, but there has to be a thumbnail for it on this site.

Go through the checklist: https://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=40855

I've asked Anders to take a look at this. The settings are correct, the album is properly listed on your profile page, the widget code is actually present in the album, and there are no console errors. But no widgets. I've tested with Plain, and the widgets work properly for me, so I don't know what's killing them!

ETA: I should add that I hate widgets. They're visual clutter that detract from the presentation of the images. Your visitors don't care how many other people have been to the site, and the counter is so inaccurate, it's not really telling you anything. It's counting search bots, it's counting every page refresh as if it were a new visitor, and it's counting your own visits.

If you really want to know how many visitors your site gets, your webhost probably provides some passable metrics, like awstats. If you want more refined into, bite the bullet, and use Google Analytics. I stopped using GA, however, when I realized how many visitors are using browsers or browser add-ons that block them entirely.

It seems that the server can't verify that you are the creator of that page. I've added some debug prints and I'll run some test.
You also haven't got a thumbnail for this. That in itself isn't an issue, but it indicates that our servers might not be able to access your server, which they have to.
But I'll be back after my tests.

Our servers are getting a 403 Forbidden reply when trying to access your page.

I'm trying to replicate the fetch using "curl", but that works, so I don't know exactly what triggers the 403 reply.

Do you have some "protection" against server access for your server?

I have now manually verified your page, so the widgets are working now.
