I think Ron means that there's no "key" for that field in the texts.properties file, so there's no place to enter the Nederlandish text.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, this is exactly what I was trying to make clear.
@Jeff: Another thread to place in this Plain Forum.

In the interests of removing things that are overly-complicated and often intimidating to a new user, I think I'd get rid of the editable choices under Show photo data. I'd have just the checkbox, and have the skin extract only EXIF and xmp entries for Camera, Make and model, Date, ISO, Exposure, Aperture, Focal length, Focal length 35mm, Flash, and GPS. In other words, just the standard stuff that comes out of the camera.
More on this subject (about which I feel very strongly!)....
The default list that's in there now tends to grab stray stuff that no one wants to see, like "Picasa" in the Artist field (a relic of bygone days, but still....).
There's also a problem with the display of the metadata - see screenshot. Not sure what "undefined" is. But it really should be tabular, with labels. I suppose the labels could be defined in texts.properties (in my skins I let the user enter the labels in the UI, but that certainly does chew up a lot of screen real estate). If my initial suggestion is taken, that would entail only ten text entries.

I have one issue with Plain 2.0: The sidebar. I don't think it should appear if there is no relevant info in it. If you for instance add 3 images to an empty project and make an album, then Plain 2.0 creates an empty sidebar, only containing a copy of the album title. To really keep it plain, default to no sidebar (mixed mode) in my opinion, or at least, leave out the sidebar if it's empty.

David...are you using the latest version of Plain? I'm NOT getting the side bar when simply adding a few photos to a project.

Thanks for reminding me! I started using the util.js method to gather metadata, but forgot to update the CSS. Finally, I chose the Plain 1.0 method. I might add an advanced tab later to collect such "do not touch" settings, like the metadata template.

With Plain 2, I tried to move the focus from "easy to develop further" to "provide the simplest output with the least surprises".
Are "variants" really required for a skin aspiring "to provide the simplest output with the least surprises" ?

In a plain skin, the Advanced tab should contain only the following text:
"If you want to get fancy, use one of the other skins!"
And the settings panel should look like the attached.

I understand the concept of feature creep, but I don't think that should preclude including audio clips (preferably in the upper left slide corner).

No, I'll remove the variants from the final release. It was left because it was used for development.

Yes, good idea. It won't complicate the skin.
