Backup projects

If you select a single or couple of projects to backup it works. But if you try to backup the same project(s) again, to the same location, it sometimes never completes, see attached typical dialogue.
Changing the save to location lets it work, but then you get the same problem. Even after restarting I have run into the problem.

That's odd. I can't reproduce it. Does it seem to happen with multiple projects? For instance with "Sample Project"? If it's pretty project specific, perhaps you can zip and make available that project?

I’ll try to get a reproducible set. I have seen it on single and multiple projects. Sometimes restarting fixes it but not always.

I'm getting the same sort of "hangs." I'm on my ancient little Macbook Air at the beach, and have only two projects on there, both of them just little 6-image test albums. Nothing even remotely fancy or interesting about them. If I back up both of them, then choose just one and try to back it up again, it never completes. I can close the dialog box by clicking the red dot. But if I do it again, I get a dialog box that says "Backing up," but that is otherwise entirely empty. Can't close that one - have to quit the app.

Before starting the backup, open jAlbum's system console, then when this happens again, hit the "Dump threads" button and pass me the generated file. It will probably tell me what causes the backup to hang.

Well, those thread dumps shows that there is no active or pending copy activity at all. The relevant threads must have quit for some reason. Please do a core update to v33.0.1 and open the system console. Now issue a backup and note when it prints "Copier thread quitting"

When the hang occurs, I am getting the "Copier thread quitting" message, and the output backup has been updated (I've made some project settings changes to trigger it), but the dialog box is hung.
I'm also getting some suspicious numbers in the progress display, which might point to the underlying problem. Screenshot.

I've just tried the bundled sample project and it fails more times than it works - less than two in ten goes. The 'Copier thread quitting' message appeared as soon as I click the backup button, nothing else printed to the console - exactly the same as a working backup reports.

That's probably just a problem with your fancy new M2. Try it with a 10-year-old Air running macOS 11.7.10! When I bought this (near the beach, as it happens, because there's no sales tax in Delaware), it seemed so fast....

Would you consider a small change for a future update, include the 'location' selector as in the project gallery? Being able to see just the loaded 'recent' projects instead of every project would make finding a project easier. Navigating the list by keystroke, on first letter, would be easier too.
