Latest update "broken"?

I had an album all set up and working and after a couple last tweaks with a re-make and upload, I saw there was a Story update available. After installing the update, I rebuilt the album and uploaded it.

The slideshow button doesn't seem to work and I get a weird, arrow ended cursor when I hover over a pic (<->) and double clicking on the image does nothing.

I did notice the thumbnail grid pattern that was set had changed to patchwork, but I'm not seeing any other of my settings that have changed. Granted, it's been a couple weeks since I was tweaking this one so there may be more setting that may have changed.

I'm not seeing where the slideshow is being prevented from starting with the audio clip starting with it.

edit

I did change to a different skin (Lucid) and the slideshow works on that just fine. Changing back to Story and walking through all the settings before forcing a full rebuild didn't 'fix' anything.

Exactly the same problem with me - working with Windows 11 and Edge, but already the jAlbum built-in browser shows the issue: It's not possible to start the Story theme's slide show.

Thanks for the feedback!

I tried to reproduce the problem, but here it works, both from the button on the hero and in the lightbox. Probably this is triggered by a special combination of settings (perhaps unrelated). Can you please attach the jalbum-settings.jap file here (from the project folder, Ctrl-Shift-I), or give a link to a broken album?

Here's a link to a "broken" album:

Broken Album

And the settings file is attached.

And ... sorry for missing it in my previous post:

Thank you for taking care of this issue. I'm using jAlbum for 15 years now and am stunned, how good it works and how reliable the service is. Thanks to a great community.

Those project settings are for a Zigzag album, not a Story album.

Not sure what's going on there - the developer's console is showing an odd Javascript error.

If I make an album with the same settings, the slideshow button works. The settings for that album do not include Story > Design > Hero > Buttons > Slideshow button. If I choose that, and make the album, the slideshow button appears in the hero section, and it works, too. I don't get the console errors, either way.

Thanks a lot for trying, Jeff. This is highly appreciated.

It confuses me that the settings file was for a ZigZag album ...

I have now started completely from zero again, even deleted the no longer used ZigZag skin, and created a new broken test album - again with the same bug.

I have used the Story skin with unchanged settings for several dozens of albums, and it was not before today morning's skin update that the bug appears. Neither the slide show button nor clicking onto the thumbnails starts any activity - neither on the desktop (Win 11, Edge), nor on my android phone.

So: Once again a link to a broken album, and attached a hopefully correct settings file - in which i slightly changed settings (the slide show button on the hero, and the restrictions for smartphone) over my standards.

Thanks in advance for any help.

With best regards,

VQ

I can reproduce the error, but Laza will need to dig further into it.

The Javascript error involves the addMap function, but the settings aren't calling for the display of maps. The error is triggered when you add images that do, in fact, have GPS coordinates, but the settings aren't asking for a map display. There's no good workaround - this needs a skin fix.

There is a workaround, but it comes at a price. If you go to Settings > Advanced > Metadata (this is a jAlbum core setting, not a skin setting), and uncheck Include photographic data in generated pages, the slideshow will work again. But you won't get any display of photo data (like EXIF, IPTC, etc.).

The workaround works for me, since there's no need for me to publish the GPS data.

Problem solved (at least for me).

Thanks a lot - happy to have such a helpful jAlbum community!

Sorry for the delay, I was out wandering in the wilderness (hiking) all weekend and slept for almost 14 hours.. lol

Do you still need my settings or a link to the album?

I'm going to grab the skin update in a bit and see if that resolves the issue.

As usual, thanks for the fast responses! (You too Jeff!)

edit

Update works like a charm! Thanks again!

I have updated the skin to version 4.3.1. However, jAlbum keeps telling me that an update to version 4.3.1 is available.

Sorry for that. v4.3.2 will fix this loop.
