Select your own external browser link

If I make an album and next do a preview, jAlbum shows the album in the default browser.
But after I changed something in the album settings, many times the change is not visible in the preview, because of a non empty browser cache.
So I like to use for jAlbum previews a special browser (Brave?) or my standard browser with a command line modifier to start it in incognito mode.
This is possible if you you create under preferences a text box where you can enter the browser activation link like
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -incognito
If that field is empty, jAlbum should start the stndard browser as is done currently.

Good idea. I'll look into it.

"Incognito mode" does not mean that the browser won't use its cached files.
ETA: To clarify: if you close the browser when it's in that mode, it will delete the cached files. But if the browser is still open, and you open the same (perhaps modified) page, the browser will continue to use the cached files, including things like CSS and JS files.
The way to avoid getting trapped by cached files is simply to hit CTRL-F5 while viewing the page (CMD-SHIFT-R on macOS).

There could be other command line switches though.

None of them clears the cache. And the cache is the problem.
ETA: On top of that, the incognito mode is designed to prevent websites from tracking you. But when you're previewing your album, there is no website involved - it's happening on your own PC.
So, if you want to provide a way for a user to launch a browser with command line switches, fine. But I'm not sure what need that addresses.

Maybe. I've done some poking around, and at least in Chrome, switches like this might, theoretically, disable caching: --media-cache-size=1 --disk-cache-size=1
But there are mixed reports about whether it's entirely effective.
One poster said that the truly effective way to do it is to launch your local server with caching disabled. If there's a way to accomplish that with the jAlbum built-in server, that might take care of the problem for all users, no matter what browser they're using.
It's murky.

Prompted by RobM, I should add that none of this helps the situation when you're checking to see what your album looks like on a phone. There is no "force reload," there is no developer's console, and there are no command-line tricks. Clearing the cache in a phone browser usually involves a deep dive into the browser's settings menu, and usually requires a complete browser shut-down and relaunch. It's bad enough when the CSS has changed, but when the Javascript has changed, things become very difficult to handle.

"Incognito mode" does not mean that the browser won't use its cached files.
This is incorrect:
I know from my own experience that"Incognito mode" is not using cached files:
If I change for instance an icon or a color in the settings of an album and I see in the preview with the Chrome browser no change of the icon or color, I copy the album path. Select the Incognito mode and drop the album path in the address field. In that case I always see the icon or color changes I made with the new settings. So I like to use the incognito mode for the preview.
If you Google "chrome incognito mode" you'll see that I'm right:
What happens when you browse privately
Chrome doesn't save your browsing history, cookies and site data, or information entered in forms.

This has nothing to do with the topic discussed her, preview an album on a PC
there is no developer's console,
On iOS you can do that with the Inspect app and this works perfect,
BTW Rob, I just did edit again my Plain-LG thread.
Are you going to remove my edits for the 8th time?
