Number of columns changed

Hello!

With the latest update, the number of columns I have set for images seems to be ignored. Also, the thumbnails appear larger than they were before.

I've attached screenshots of what I thought might be the relevant data.

I had 4 columns before, and now there are only 3. As for the image size, I've not changed anything for as long as I can remember.

Screen width shouldn't be an issue, as I'm running maximized on a 4k monitor. There's lots of space.

My site: kolkerart.com

Thanks,
Jeff

Yes, this is a conscious move, because the thumbnail dimensions are calculated for the no-sidebar layout. When you have a sidebar the thumbnails are always resized to some 70-75% of their original size. This is a waste of storage space and bandwidth. If you still want to have 4 columns in case there is a sidebar, just change columns to 5.

Hello,

Identical remarks.
With a large number of images it is not a gift.
Completely updated album.
I hope that the 4 column will not come back in 3.
Maybe in the column information add a note that the sidebar is counted as a column.

Best regards.

Yes, good point. Exactly, the sidebar is not counted as a column, but 25% of the width. I asked David, to find a way to generate the thumbnails only if there's no need to regenerate the slide images. Anyway, I believe even those who have to regenerate the images will profit from the decreased storage need and the quicker page load.

I cannot change it to 5, as the drop down is read only and there is only the options for 1-4. How do you get around this?

Photoblogger > Main content > Folders > Columns offers only the choices of 1-4. For Photoblogger > Main content > Images > Columns, the choices are 1-6.

Neither field is ever "read only," as far as I can tell.

ETA: But you can't enter a value outside of the accepted range, of course.
