Something interesting I've noticed. Not sure who the culprit is, and I would have thought it was impossible. Just something to be aware of....

If I have jAlbum open, then use Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020, the jAlbum display often gets wiped out. See almostempty.png. If I then drag my mouse over the display, as if I were painting it, parts of it reappear. See painting.png and morepainting.png.

It's a very strange effect, and some parts of the display can't be brought back just by mouse-dragging. Quitting and relaunching jAlbum fixes it, of course. Opening a project also fixes it.

Jeff, I'm glad you experienced this too. I'm running into this problem for month now. But I didn't dare to report it. I also do "fix" this by mouse-dragging the jAlbum main window.

Glad to know I'm not just crazy.

Then again, maybe you and I are both crazy. Equally likely.

Odd. I assume the same problem holds for v31.1? (running on Java 20 now)

Try disabling hardware accelerated graphics for jAlbum as a test. You do that by editing "jAlbum.ini" and adding the following just next to the -Xmx "Virtual Machine Parameter":
-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false

Yes (by now you should know that I'm almost always the first person to install an update!).

That does appear to fix it. I should have remembered this trick from some earlier display issues. IIRC, those were related to some of the look-and-feel options, combined with certain graphics cards.

Good. I assume you're running the most updated graphics driver? Try reporting the issue to the graphics card manufacturer.

I've learned from hard experience never to update most device drivers unless they're causing problems that can't be worked around in some other way. I've run into some device driver updates that nearly "bricked" my machine.
