Zoom control on PC by Mouse-wheel.

If you could enable mouse-wheel zooming then the ugly zoom slider would be unnecessary. I've turned off enable mouse wheel navigation because I'm always attempting to zoom and instead I'm moved to the next image!
I'm surprised that no one else has asked for this.

Ctrl-mousewheel is doing what you're after. Just like in many other applications.

I'm sorry Laza, no this isn't doing what I want! This is because all it does in Google Chrome is zoom the web page and it does not alter your magnify tool. The reseults are pretty horrid to be brutally honest!
Please see the attachment.
Using Ctrl + mouse-wheel just magnified the page to a zoom of 175% shown here, massivly increased the font size and tool bar and did not move the zoom slider.
If you can enable the mouse wheel to move the slider to increase the true magnification of the image without affecting the font and description boxes , then that would be really useful. If that happened I don't think the zoom bar would need to be seen. One less icon to clutter the screen!
BTW - Windows 10 Photos App and Photoshop both zoom with mouse-wheel alone!

I see now, the Ctrl-Zoom only works with the "Use Zoom slider" option. Otherwise, the browser's Zoom functionality kicks in. With the traditional "toggle zoom" I didn't see the point of adding multiple-step zooming.

On my Album, Ctrl-Zoom with the mouse wheel doesn't work with either Toggle Zoom or Zoom Slider options selected.
Of course, this may depend upon the way my Tiger Skin is set up compared to yours!
I'm looking for an option to use the mouse wheel to zoom in to see detail. It would need to be next to Enable Mouse Wheel Navigation in SETTINGS so that it is either one of them or none of them.
BTW You stated that Ctrl-Zoom is normal for zooming into images. Another example of mouse wheel zooming without holding Ctrl is the jAlbum interface itself when viewing a single image in Edit Mode!

This hasn't been done as far as I can see. For me, using the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of an image is a very natural common means of operation.
BTW Using Ctrl on Chrome just changes the page magnification, which includes text as well as the image!

The scroll wheel is good for something that needs granular control. For toggling the zoomed-in / fit-to-screen state it's better to use a key and preserve the wheel for previous/next functionality.
Using the zoom slider the magnification can be controlled in many steps, so the wheel is used for magnification. I never saw the browser's zoom functionality take over (not even in Chrome).

I think that you meant to type gradual control not granular and if so, I agree with you that a scroll wheel on the mouse is best for doing that job.
For toggling the zoomed-in / fit-to-screen state it's better to use a key and preserve the wheel for previous/next functionality.
I don't do that and don't see any point in doing so when there are other methods of moving to the next image such as swiping left or right and keyboard left and right arrows.
Using the zoom slider the magnification can be controlled in many steps, so the wheel is used for magnification.
That is what I want - mouse wheel for magnification - zoom in and out.
I never saw the browser's zoom functionality take over (not even in Chrome).
On my browser using Ctrl and the scroll wheel activates Chrome's Zoom. Example attached.
However, using my mouse scroll wheel alone, does nothing because I have not enabled mouse wheel navigation.
Most picture viewers use the mouse wheel to magnify the image.

No, he does mean granular, as in "fine grained." In other words, good for very small adjustments.
I don't do that and don't see any point in doing so when there are other methods of moving to the next image such as swiping left or right and keyboard left and right arrows.
I never use the mouse wheel for navigation, either, and when I stumble on it in one of Laza's skins, it always provokes a "WTF?" reaction from me. To me, it's always "up and down on the page" or "enlarge."

I'm pleased that you agree Jeff.
In Lightbox>Settings :
It just needs Laza to design a tick box to switch between:
- mouse wheel navigation or
- enable mouse wheel zoom. (magnification)
That would be great if you could please, Laza.
Or better - set the mouse wheel zoom as default because I believe that is the way most people expect to use a mouse wheel.

For me, the Ctrl-mousewheel works fine with whatever settings. Perhaps it needs that the image can be zoomed at all. The mouse wheel is primarily used for scrolling the page. Then in the lightbox the mouse wheel got used as navigating between the images. Yes, perhaps in the Edit mode using the mouse wheel for zooming was a good choice, but in my opinion, it's better to use it for previous/next in the lightbox. Anyway, I can add an option for this too.
Is there any progress on adding this option to ZOOM IN AND OUT of an IMAGE using the MOUSEWHEEL on the uploaded website PLEASE?
This is the NORMAL behaviour for the mousewheel on many applications!

I've added the option to use the mouse wheel for zooming.
Thank you Laza, that is fantastic.
