Norton blocking JAlbum 30.1

Latest version of JAlbum has lead to several pop up errors in Norton 360 (data protector) saying that the code is malicious and trying to overwrite protected files (it's when I rebuild a gallery, so overwriting the previous files).

When I first ran the new version of JAlbum (30.1), Norton firewall also warned that JAlbum was trying to access my network (Outbound TCP) when I am just running it locally (not attempting to access anything externally with JAlbum). Is JAlbum attempting to send data back to your servers when people are running it and outputting locally?

Is there an issue with recent versions of JAlbum and Norton 360 on PCs?

Thanks.

False positives. And yes, jAlbum does do some quick remote access when you run it, doing things like checking for new jAlbum or skin versions.

Uninstall Norton. You don't need it for anything - the Windows built-in firewall and anti-virus is top-notch, and there's no reason to layer on anything else.

Thanks. Hadn't encountered the remote block in previous versions. Prefer Norton for anti-virus etc so need to stick with that.

Any idea why Norton is complaining about overwriting existing files? Again, this hasn't happened with previous versions. Thought should make community aware in case anyone else encounters issues with 30.1.

How can I get the installation executables for earlier versions of JAlbum so can revert back to a version that didn't get blocked? Have an older version of JAlbum running with the same Norton updates on a different computer and not encountering any issues.

Thanks again.

You can always reinstall an older version of jAlbum:

I have no idea why Norton is complaining about simple file operations. Norton has a long history of registering false positives, and labeling all sorts of harmless software as "malicious." It's notorious for doing this.

Think about it. You are letting defective software prevent you from using software that isn't defective. And you're paying for the privilege, to boot.

Norton is garbage. It's slowing down your PC, blocking harmless applications, costing you money, yet providing no benefit that you can't get for free. Does sticking with this actually make sense to you? Really?

Just want to comment that I agree 100% with Jeff here. Norton is garbage.

Finally, this is not a jAlbum bug, and shouldn't be reported as one here. You need to file a bug report with Norton, which is the app that's making mistakes.
