I just did a "Make album" on one that has 3,034 items according to the information it presents while compiling. It took 9 minutes and 47 minutes. Only one new folder with nine sub-folders that had a total of 53 photos in them (some only one photo as I am still adding to the album) and 38 photos in the main folder were added. Previous recent releases of jAlbum had really sped up the compilation, but this latest version, 30.1, seems to have slowed it again.

There are multiple factors that may trigger jAlbum to reprocess all images. Let's ensure that it's not one of those factors. Try making the album again now. How fast is it now. Now add a couple of images and make the album again. Does it repeatedly perform slower? If so, install the older version next to the current one and launch it to make the same test.

Seems to work just fine now. I have no idea why the first album I compiled with the latest version took so long. I later recompiled a much larger album and it did not take nearly as long.

Thanks.

Good. This brings me the idea to have jAlbum telling the user why it decided to reprocess all images.

I checked the code: jAlbum should only switch to "Make all" if the image specific settings have changed.
