Classifying actions: Lightbox connected to Slideshow Transition Speed?
Posted: 12 Feb 23, 07:11

When attempting to adjust (lengthen) the default slide transition interval in an automatic slideshow, I could not locate the setting- and was not even sure a setting existed.

But I eventually found it in the most unlikely of places (for an end-user): "Lightbox" section, "Main Image"

Not sure of the solution, but I think those settings are currently buried too deep, mis-classified, and hard to find.

But glad they do exist, and thanks!

Can you please suggest a better place?

You can always find any setting by using the search tool (top right).

I think this is just a conceptual problem for the poster.

@dosware: The "slideshow" consists of the "main images" being shown in sequence within the "lightbox." So, the setting is exactly where it belongs.

Here's how to use the searcher to find settings. See step1, step2, and step3.

Much appreciate the responses. The search function does help find the appropriate setting and that is a great feature I am now utilizing. Not suggesting a new section for slideshow-related parameters.....but "Lightbox" was not an intuitive term to me and I need to become more familiar with the nomenclature of jAlbum.

jAlbum didn't invent the lightbox - Lokesh Dhakar did, over 17 years ago. His original lightbox script was quickly joined by others, and today there are dozens of them. Google for lightbox web design.

At one time or another, the original Lightbox script, Highslide JS, FancyBox, PhotoSwipe, Floatbox, LightGallery, and others, has each formed the basis for one or more jAlbum skins. They're all referred to as "lightbox scripts." Laza writes his own.

jAlbum did, however, invent the "web page" and the "thumbnail." ;)

Thank you for that quick education- much appreciated. I just was not aware of the taxonomy and history of the term "lightbox" I'm a biologist, not a photographer, and had used jAlbum much pre 2010 for publishing family photos. I am now using again for my church auction to display photos. It has evolved - remarkably so, and glad it is still very user-friendly
