Most Social sites provide two types of interaction:
- Share: which results in a new post on your social site timeline
- Like (or Tweet) button: which might appear on your timeline, but it's rather made as feedback to the content creator on how many people like their site, and for the social site to follow your taste and help with personalized ads.
The latter method is used less frequently today, requires more code to run, and also results in more thorough tracking of your site visitors.
Facebook requires creating an App to be created on their developer site, which can be reached by clicking the "
Sign up" link next to the App ID box. Unfortunately, I cannot give Step-by-step instructions for their page, as they change it frequently. As far as I understand, this requirement was made to mitigate the effect of anonymous fake news accounts after the 2016 US elections scandal.

I have stopped using the Like buttons a few years ago. It's still available in my skins for backward-compatibility purposes.
