The build-in browser of jAlbum is not useless, but I agree it would be good to update it
.
It's a third-party product, and there doesn't seem to be any development work taking place on it, so an update is unlikely. If you're just using it for a quick layout check, it's mostly reliable (though not entirely - I've seen it mangle some thumbnail layouts). The problem is that users see something wrong, then report it as a skin bug. So, skin developers hate it.
There is a much more full-featured JavaFX browser available, but it's a
real browser. That means that it's standards-compliant. But it's also just as large as Chrome. That raises a question - does it make sense to bundle a full browser with jAlbum, when virtually every jAlbum user already has a modern browser on his machine?
I just stick with my default browser (Brave), and hit F9 then F12. That does mean that I sometimes end up with many tabs open in the browser, but that's not really a problem. I could just hit F9, ALT-TAB, F5 (or CTRL-F5, just to be sure).
