Some feedback on skin functionality
Posted: 15 Dec 22, 04:32

1) If item has been added to the cart the cart icon in the upper left corner of the photo should change color to indicate that - similar how Select checkboxes work.

2) It is possible to add the same item to the cart twice. In my opinion this should be disabled. If someone wants to purchase more than one instance of something they can adjust quantity in the cart. Otherwise people can add to cart more than once accidentally and they will be double charged.

3) For vertical form factor photographs (width is less than the toolbar with Prev., Exit, etc buttons) when single photo is displayed the button toolbar overlays the Select checkbox and "Add to Cart" button which makes it impossible to click Select checkbox or "Add to cart". Potential solution is to display Select checkbox and "Add to Cart" in the lower left corner of the image instead of upper *right* left corner.

4) When single photo is displayed neither Select checkbox nor "Add to cart" has a tooltip.

5) When multiple photos are displayed Select checkbox has no tooltip.

Thanks for the feedback!

1. The select box keeps being checked as long as you unselect or add selected items to the cart. It cannot track if an item has already been added to the cart, because that would make it impossible to make another batch of selections. I don't see how would you imagine this box working.

2. If there is more than one shop option, it would be impossible to order the same item with another option if the skin would block placing the same item twice in the cart. I agree, if there's only one option, it would be enough to bump up the quantity. Doesn't it work like this?

3. Yes, true. I haven't yet spotted this bug. I might move these buttons to the bottom right corner. Anyway, the "Add to cart" and "View cart" buttons are also displayed in the Info panel too.

4. What do think the tooltip should say on the "Add to cart" button? I believe no need to explain it further. Just like a select checkbox. Should it say "Select image"? It's so self-explanatory in my opinion.

The add cart button doesn't show the label "Add to cart" in the lightbox image. I have added this now.

In the case of a single shop-option the cart doesn't group them. I will have to improve this behavior.

I updated item 3) from my original post (I incorrectly described control location). Changed text is crossed and bold.

I will reply to the rest of your comments later.

I trust you're aware that use of the shopping cart requires a jAlbum Pro license. I'm sure you'll upgrade your license before you actually deploy a shopping cart on your site.

Yes, I am aware I need to upgrade the license.

That being said - is the difference purely a licensing? Or will some kind of additional functionality become available?

No, the functionality remains the same. jAlbum licensing tends to be on the "honor system." Very trusting, these Swedes. It has a charming, almost child-like quality, rather mysterious to someone born and raised in the NYC 'burbs.

I am from Brooklyn and I don't like what you are insinuating :D

Jokes aside I don't think this plugin will work for me as a shopping cart. The fact that the same item can be added twice to the shopping cart without any warning is a show-stopper for me (my intention was to sell digital downloads). I will make a video to demonstrate all issues I listed in my OP plus one more issue that would take forever to describe in the post. I will send you and Laza a link to it.

I'll leave it to Laza. In my own skins, there are two things I've vowed never to touch - social media and shopping carts. They're the Black Hole of Support.

Laza: I emailed you a link with the video illustrating these issues. Let's discuss anything further in email or via Zoom.
