Defunct Matriix skin does not work properly on iPhone.

I have an album created years ago using the old Matrix skin.
When I email the album's URL to someone and they open it on their iPhone all they get is the 500+ pictures in random order with no captions, no navigation buttons (e.g., Prev and Next), and no music soundtrack. The album does work correctly on our iOS 16 iPad. So I made a small test album with the Tiger skin and that works just fine on the iPhone. So can we conclude that the culprit is the defunct Matrix? Is there a skin comparable to Matrix in appearance?

Surprisingly, no. I just made a test album with Matrix, including background music, and it works fine on my iPhone 14 (tried Chrome and Safari). Even the music. True, the thumbnail page doesn't adapt well to a small display, the slides don't respond to swipes, and the navigation controls are too small for fat fingers, but the basic functionality is fine.

Please give us a link to the album (or send it to me privately, if you prefer).

The closest analog is Saturn, but you might want to venture into Neptune for a more modern look.

I know what the problem is. If your albums are hosted on jalbum.net, and a visitor arrives with a mobile device, like an iPhone, the jAlbum site doesn't use the album produced by the skin at all. It substitutes its own "mobile friendly" display script. That's based solely on the RSS file in the album, and doesn't include any of the skin-generated stuff.

You need to disable the "helpful" jAlbum mobile version of the album. From your profile page, hover on the thumbnail for an album and choose Edit. Then see the attached screenshot.

In fact, if you go to your profile page and choose Settings, you can turn off the jAlbum "mobile viewer" for all of your albums.

Lest anyone doubt me, hit this album with a phone:

(demo album removed)

Not great (which is why the skin was retired), but it works.

(BTW, I even have a "Groovied" version of Matrix stashed away, should BeanShell eventually be removed from jAlbum. I bury the past, but I keep track of where the gravesite is.)

Jeff,
Sorry about the delay in my reply (have been preoccupied with house repairs).
Anyway, I just rebuilt my album using your solution and it worked like a charm!
THANKS SO MUCH!
