Favicon specific to different websites

So how would you go about making sure you had a favicon separate for each website that you run?
If I have the files in the root directory, they aren't showing up.
What I used to do was copy a skin, and put my favicon for each website in there and rename the skin to match the website. I ran into a problem with that and am now just using the Skin that the designer made as is, so I don't run into the issue I had the other day with an error.
But now I don't know how to make favicons to show up for each site without having to put them each time I do an update.
Help??

Just turn off "Use the skin's favicon" so the browser will get it from the site root.
You can also provide your own files with each album. Drag and drop the favicon files into a folder named "res" created in the album's top-level directory. Everything you put in that folder overwrites the one that comes with the skin.
Make sure you overwrite all. I think I'm using this service to generate all the variants.

Laza, well, I'll be....I've used the section that says to use the skin's favicon all these years and did put my own favicons in the "res" folder" but when designing for more than 1 website with the same skin, and different favicons, this is an issue. I'm trying it the other way, by unchecking it, and remaking all the albums. Thanks for the suggestion!
Also I used the same skin but copied it for different websites with a slightly different name so I could save the settings for that website that way too...Any suggestions for this?

I don't see what's the point of copying the skin. You don't have to modify the skin, just add the favicons into the "res" folder of the album (not the skin).

Oh I thought it was the "res" of the skin! Thanks!
And then, to save the settings for each website, the colors, the url etc., what is the best way to remember that or figure out a way to have the settings stay the same?

To clarify, add the favicon to the res folder of the project. Anything you manually plant in the res folder of the finished album would be wiped out as soon as you made the album again.

Probably the easiest way.... Say you're starting a new project for an album for site4.com. Add your images, then choose File, Import, Settings from Project and navigate to the jalbum-settings.jap file from the most recent project you did for site4.com.
There are other more elaborate schemes for doing this, but this way is pretty straightforward. |

If you've somehow managed to delete the project file (and to be clear, it won't vanish by itself - it requires a human to do that), you can also choose File, Import, Settings from Published Album, and feed it the URL of an existing album on the interwebs. But for security reasons, that option won't copy a lot of the settings, like all the shopping cart stuff. And for purely technical reasons, it won't copy things like background images that you've added.
It's infinitely preferrable to hunt down the jalbum-settings.jap file on your own PC. If you saved the project file with a different name, of course, it might be clientX.jap, or dogalbum.jap. In any event, it's got to be there somewhere!

JeffTucker, I did not delete it but to be fair, I went into the Jalbum folder where I save all of my files (not on my "c" drive) and there is a whole album, of several folders, 11 folders in all, no *.jap file and there is a folder also in this folder called .jalbum, but it's not in there either.
I have found several like this, all with multiple folders of photos, but AGREE, most of the folders do have a .jap file.
So why do you think the folders with multiple folders don't have a .jap file? NO way would I delete them. Ahh, something else to figure out...with your kind heart!

I can't even begin to guess where the project files are. By default, jAlbum saves them in the project directory. The only way they can land somewhere else is if you tell the application to save the file somewhere else.
The other place the project file gets saved is in the lifeboat.zip file, which would be in the project's output directory, along with the rest of the finished album. Copy it to a harmless location and unzip it.

Laza, just to update you, all the favicons are not created on the link you shared.
If you can update the one you use, so that it covers all the variations you include in the skin, that would be helpful.
