from time to time I look at other users' albums out of interest and my impression is that more and more often I see pages that use widgets, mainly the "Comment" widget. I don't know how you guys see it, but I think it just looks super awful, like a look back to the 80s.
I mean, you guys (so primarily David and Laza, but also the other active skin developers) made the welcome decision a few years ago to change the skins to be "responsive". The widgets, on the other hand, destroy the modern look in one fell swoop.
Please, please, let the widgets finally die in peace and remove them. Thanks.
I've been saying that for a few years. In my skins, I simply disable them. There's no technical reason why they wouldn't work with my skins - I just think they look awful.
Site visitors don't care how many other people have viewed the album (and the counter, because it lacks filters, is giving wildly inaccurate information anyway), most skins provide an "about" or "info" page of some sort, many skins provide their own sharing options (and really, Digg and MySpace?), and if you want people to comment, give them your email address.
I also wonder if there might be GDPR problems, too, since the widgets are "revealing" your IP address to that well-known data mining operation, jAlbum AB.
(I'm also not a fan of the "browse bar," for similar reasons.)
