After adding a new image to an existing project, I get a Java error when creating an album. This also happens when I remove an already existing image and add the same one again.

An unexpected error occurred. Please see detailed description below:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Metadata is read-only
at com.twelvemonkeys.imageio.AbstractMetadata.assertMutable(AbstractMetadata.java:117)
at com.twelvemonkeys.imageio.AbstractMetadata.reset(AbstractMetadata.java:107)

at se.datadosen.util.FileFilters.saveImage(FileFilters.java:231)

at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(Unknown Source)

at java.base/java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Is there anything what I can do in the settings?

This is a jAlbum core error, not a skin error. Until it's resolved, just turn off Settings > Advanced > Metadata > Include photographic data in generated images.

Please include one of the source images that triggers this error.

David, virtually any image causes this error if you choose Include photographic data in generated images. Add this one, for example.

I can confirm this. This problem has been introduced since we updated from v3.5 to v3.8.1 of the TwelveMonkey's ImageIO library. I've commented on an open case here describing this problem.

The workaround for now is to switch off "Include EXIF metadata in generated images" or to grab the older v3.5 jar files for TwelveMonkey's ImageIO lib from v28.1 for instance and use those instead.

Let's hope for a quick solution for this issue from the developer of this generally great library.

I believe we have a better solution to this in v34.1.1, cause the fix we made initially caused errors with some odd images. If you're using v34.1, open it, then select Tools->External tools->"jAlbum core update", then restart jAlbum when prompted.
