You could replace the recursive call with
else if(f.isDirectory() && !f.getName.equals(engine.getCloseupDirectory() && !f.getName.equals("res") {
				deleteAlbumThumbs(f);
			}

Just to save time going through the res and slide directories

Yes, I see - though you've got some missing and mismatched parens.
else if(f.isDirectory() && !f.getName().equals(engine.getCloseupDirectory()) && !f.getName().equals("res")) {
	deleteAlbumThumbs(f);
}
But in my experience, these things process so quickly, you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference!

The iPad editor has thrown a wobbler with one of the os updates, not the best tool for code.

Yes, hence the first quick and dirty tool.

Oh, sure, blame it on the device, or on the Code Gnomes™.

Before I could drag the insertion point to any given character. Now I can only select the start of a word. So I just went into the settings and found there is now a navigation wheel (tap with two fingers to show it) that moves the cursor character by character. Who dreams up these ‘improvements’?

You're overlooking the basic rule: mobile devices are for consuming content, not for creating it.

I always look forward eagerly to the prospect of trying to edit something on my phone. Oy.

Now you're just toying with my emotions.

Upon reflection, I think there should be just two options: Make Album and Force Remake Images (plus the background/multi-maker stuff). Anyone who wants to force remake of both images and videos should just delete the local album and hit Make Album.

And you know how I feel about Make Test. I don't think I could reliably tell someone what it does, especially with the JSON-driven skins.
