I can't get the background music to play in my story album.

I read in the info that you have to communicate with the audio player when you visit the album.

who knows a solution

Automatic background music is disabled by virtually all browsers. The visitor has to click the "play" button at upper left.

(I'm not sure why the Auto-start option is still in the skin settings.)

The Auto-Start does work with the start of the slideshow in some browsers. As Jeff said the background music does not start when the album is initially opened.

The rules for autoplay are almost inscrutable:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Media/Autoplay_guide

I can't get the background music to start automatically in Chrome or Firefox, even when kicking off the automated slideshow, but it may be that repeated visits to the same site, and starting the music manually, will convince the browser that the music really is OK by me. But it's getting to the point that it's not worth the effort of including an autoplay option, since it's a crap shoot whether it will work or not. ;)

Allowing auto-start depends on the "Engagement index" - as Google calls it.
https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2017/09/autoplay-policy-changes#:~:text=autoplay%20with%20sound.-,Media%20Engagement%20Index%20(MEI),be%20greater%20than%207%20seconds.

Jeff is right, it doesn't worth bothering with.
