Well, you don't get any cropping or watermarking, but that's about it.

These days, I think it's a safe assumption that if someone is including a GIF, it's an animated one, and the user wants to preserve the animation. If a user really, really wants to include a non-animated GIF, and have it cropped or watermarked, let him convert the sucker to JPG before adding it to the project. That would be the "fringe" use case.

Yes, I didn't think of post-processing. Still, the only point in using GIFs today is for small animations, which cannot be post-processed - similar to videos.

Well, GIF's that get converted to PNG's still fail in Photoblogger, but it seems that no one else cares about it, so I'll mark this "answered," and move on.
