Changing avatar for forum posts

I have replaced the avatar in my jAlbum profile page thinking that would also apply to the avatar in my posts and in my forum profile, but of course the forum is Jive software, not jAlbum software, and has its own preferences.
However, the forum's Control Panel "Your Profile" and "Your Forums Settings" don't seem to allow changing the avatar. What am I missing?
Also, the image on the forum profile page is not the avatar used in my posts.

The avatars on your profile page and here in the forums are now the same. It takes a while for the two systems to get in synch.
The forum profile page is blocked from editing because most of the information is taken from your regular profile page. Mine is using an avatar from quite a few years ago. The catch with that one is that no one else can find it. Take a look at the URL in your post - it's keyed to your numeric user ID, not your username. And from the forum, it's virtually impossible to figure out what someone's user ID is. So, unless you actually give someone the link, they'll never see the old avatar.
ETA: I just took a look, out of curiosity, and even from the forum admin console there doesn't appear to be any way to get at that old avatar. It's also very difficult to track down someone's numeric user ID from there.

Not the same here
The attached png file shows three different versions of the avatar on the jAlbum profile , the forum profile and this forum post --as seen here in OZ. Do you see the same avatar on the forum post?

Yes, Jeff is correct. The public avatars use the same source, but have a cache time of one year, so a force refresh is needed. The avatar used for jalbum.net (not the forum) is going thru a CDN, so it can't be refreshed with a browser cache cleanout, but when the image is updated, the URL is updated too, so it will automatically be refreshed. The URL for the avatar in the forum is fixed, but doesn't go thru a CDN so a browser refresh is sufficient (but needed).
The avatar you see in the user settings in the forum seems to be something we set up in the early days of the forum for the admins. There are some 18 different avatars to choose from in the forum admin (all picturing admins), but I can't find a way to update the avatar for a user... But, as Jeff says, it's very tricky for anyone but you to see that avatar.
