I try to all my editing in Lightroom. This time I did not. By accident I hit the delete key. My hard work is gone.
Please tell me that they still are stored in a safe place so I can get them back.

On a Windows machine, the image files should be in the Recycle Bin, and your originals are still where they started. But whatever editing you did to them within jAlbum is gone - that info is stored in a sidecar file, and when you delete an object from the project, that file is dumped.

This is why there's a confirmation dialog when you delete objects.

What would you suggest? Two confirmation dialog boxes, with the second saying, "Are you really, really sure?" Or should deletions not actually delete anything?

If you ask me, a Photo Recovery Software is not the solution to the problem. The solution is a backup is a backup is a backup. I mean, we are in the year 2020 and people don't have one single backup of their unique files? Boy oh boy :-)

Well first of all I can confirm that when using jAlbum on Windows 10, any deleted images end up in the desktop RECYCLE BIN and carry with them any TITLE, COMMENTS and CREATOR information that was held in the original image. This means that should it be an accidental deletion, when the IMAGE is RESTORED it still carries all the important stuff back to jAlbum.

I don't know if this works for everybody, but it does with my jAlbum settings using TIGER skin.

Yes, I have got backup turned on and the original images are always copied into jAlbum so if the worst happens I've never lost the photos.

However, when sorting out lots of duplicated and necessary photos, I create a HIDDEN FOLDER in the album and call it TRASH. Instead of pressing delete I just move the unwanted photo into the TRASH FOLDER. When I'm sure the photos are not needed, I delete the contents of this temporary trash. This could be the default action of Delete in jAlbum - but it would need some changes made to how jAlbum works!

BTW I find the jAlbum REVIEW facility to be very good for comparing one image with another.
