Hi. b11 is now ready. I hope this is the last beta before release.

Changes:
  • jAlbum now supports copy-drag operations* allowing quick and easy duplication of objects
  • Any copy operation now includes whatever additional metadata jAlbum has stored in the corresponding .info files and in comments.properties
  • Skins may now provide their own empty page template file
  • The lifeboat.zip file's embedded project file now always reflects the current settings during album build (was previously relying on a copy of the project file)

Note: A copy-drag is a drag and drop operation where the dragged object is copied instead of moved. It's activated by holding down the right qualifier key before or during a drag operation (ALT on Mac, CTRL on Windows)

Please explain this, because I think I can do that already with the released version.

If your skin provides a templates/empty-page.htt, then that file will be used as base for the empty page instead of the file from jAlbum's system/empty-page.htt location.

My skins do have already for years a template file Empty_page.htt which was working OK so I don't understand this point in this new release.

David, I think you introduce in this release again, like in most recent releases, features which most users, including myself, are not going to use:
Professional photographers, mostly taking photos in RAW format, are using programs like Lightroom and ON1 to enter and maintain the metadata.
Hobby photographers don't care about metadata or even don't know what metadata are.

And again I can't find these new features in the 'Feature request' list. It is even not in jGromits feature request list, so why do we have a 'Feature request' list?

Here I did give you a hint to introduce a useful metadata function for all users.

In the ‘Add’ drop down menu, new page defaults to offer an ‘Empty page’ for all skins. Users of your skins will see two empty page templates but after this update if you rename your template from Empty_page.htt to empty-page.htt then users will see only one empty page entry; much less confusing.

And it shouldn't. I wish this could be taken care of. If the skin indicates, in its skin.properties file, that it doesn't support extra pages (fullSiteSupport=false), this context menu item should be absent, or at least grayed out.

Maybe the icon should change (to indicate an ‘include’ object) and the default be web location, that always exists as a choice and probably gets more use.

I think you did introduce a big problem in version 20.1b13:

My images and my project file are in diurectory I:\Pictures\OnzeTuin\Onze_Tuin
see attached screen-shot jAlbumImgaeDir.JPG.

In the album made with this new version the the subfolder 'Bloemen' absent in the resulting albem, see screen-shot jAlbumResult.JPG

I did not see this problem in 20.0.6

I assume this is because you have a "res" folder inside the "Bloemen" sub folder. jAlbum ignores sub folders that contain a "res" folder.

Removing the res folder does indeed solve the problem.

But because this problem was absent in the released version, you should give a warning that the res folder is giving problems in the new version!

I think you will see this problem for users, like me, who combined original single albums in a new album with folders.

Well I renamed my Empty_page.htt file into empty_page.htt, but that does not help.
Version 20.1b13 still shows two empty page menu items, see attached screenshot.

This beta version crashed with big albums like my Algarve album:
An unexpected error occurred. Please see detailed description below:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
	at java.base/java.util.Arrays.copyOf(Unknown Source)
	at java.base/java.lang.AbstractStringBuilder.ensureCa
where I changed already the init file:
Virtual Machine Parameters=-Xms64M -Xmx6400M -Djalbum.installation.dir="C:\Program Files\jAlbum\" -Dmy.pictures.path="K:\Users\Andre\Afbeeldingen\" -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Djna.nosys=true -XX:+UseParallelGC
This problem is absent in released version 20.0.6

It's "empty-page.htt", not "empty_page.htt"

I could print a discrete console window warning, and naturally add this info to the release notes

OK I changed the name, but this does not solve the problem, see attached screenshot
