Program Geosetter can generate a Google Earth kmz-file to show the photo locations of a photo album made with the jAlbum program, as is also possible with my program MakeMap.

However there are some differences between the 2 programs:
  • A Geosetter map can be used with any skin, because clicking a way-point in a map and next clicking the small image, opens the slide image, while a MakeMap map opens in that case the slide page, so it requires skin information. That is the reason that program MakeMap can only be used with the Turtle, the Tiger, the Slide Show 4 skin, the PhotoSwipe skin and the FancyBox skin.
  • A Geosetter map can show Icons or Mini images, while a MakeMap map shows only camera icons.
  • A Geosetter map can show a number of information fields like Caption, Date Taken etc. which is not possible with a MakeMap map.
  • The Geosetter program can add a track to the map directly, while program MakeMap requires the Google Earth program to do that.
To see the differences between the two map types open this test album.

The maps shown by clicking button 2 and 3 are generated by program MakeMap and the maps shown by clicking the last two buttons are made with program Geosetter.

The Geosetter Google Earth file Geosetter.kmz is exported with the following settings:

The Geosetter Google Maps page is made by editing file GoogleMap.html made by program MakeMap, the text 'map.kml' has been replaced by 'Geosetter.kmz'.
