The bulk of it was done by the end of April, 2022. Some bits and pieces after that - user database, etc.

Interesting. I was still struggling with hosting last year. Images, at times, would take forever to load. I have not seen any slowdowns with Firebase.

The files are on Amazon S3, but they are still served from Stockholm/Sweden. Spreading the files closer to the end users is on our wish list, but we haven't done that yet. It requires a bit more than just moving the files.

This all makes sense. I still love your product and use it heavily, daily. Moving to Firebase was a small price to pay to keep things running smoothly.

Yeah, you've probably seen tests on how it could work, and with the move to AWS it's now possible to take advantage of their data centers around the world, but someone has to write the code to make it work for everyone. :)
