copy a picture as a link into another folder

Hello

I have a lot of folder's in my jalbum. Every folder has a different topic. So every picture I have in my jalbum is just one's in the jalbum.

Now I want to create a new folder which should contain my best of my pictures.
But I do not want to copy the files again to the webserver. I'm asking myself if it would be possible to copy just a virtual copy pictures into this "bes of" folder.

Is is possible? And if yes, how can I see later what the original photo is and what just a virtual copy (or a link)

You can avoid making copies of the images in the album project on your PC, but in the finished album on the server, those "best of" images will be there twice - once in the normal folder, and once in the "best of" folder. There's no way to avoid this.

OK, thanks. But would it possible to implement this feature in later releases of jalbum? This would be good.

Very unlikely. It violates the basic structure of an album. If a skin is generating a page for BestOf, all of the images used on that page are expected to be in BestOf, either at the top level (for included originals), or in BestOf/slides. It never looks outside of BestOf to find the images, like in ../Folder2/slides.

I suppose it would be possible to do what you're suggesting, but since disk space is cheap, and most hosts are now offering unlimited storage space, it hardly seems worth the effort.

The original picture folder is on your PC. An album on the web can't view files on your PC.

I made a ‘best of’ page template which is included in Sprint skin. The page can be used in other ‘site aware’ skins, though styling might need applying. It will show thumbnail links for any image rated 5*, clicking on the thumbnail takes you to that image.

Maybe that would be enough?

None of JGromit’s skins support page templates, you would need to use another skin.

This still seems like a solution in search of a problem.

In the album project, create a folder called Best Of. Now open each of the other folders, copy the images you want to include in the Best Of section, and paste them into Best Of. Make the album.

Sure, those images will be on the server twice. So what? Who cares?

So I also have the same request: implement a new link type where the address for the slide and thumbnail is copied from the selected image.

Shouldn’t be a problem, unless the photographer thinks nearly all their images are their best ones ;)

My template was really a coding exercise, based on this thread
