What is the difference between black and yellow folders in the FTP window?
Posted: 5 Apr 16, 09:59

If I upload an album, I see in the FTP window that most of the uploaded albums are black, but some are yellow, see enclosed screen shot jAlbumFTP.PNG

What is the difference between the black and the yellow folders in the FTP window?

I believe that the black folders indicate that there's an album in that directory - yellow folders do not. From my quick testing, it appears that the presence or absence of a thumbs subdirectory is how it tells the difference, but I'm just guessing.

No, in my case all black and yellow folders do contain albums. I see black folders only on the jalbum server, see AndreWolff.jalbum.net.PNG If I click on the + sign of a yellow folder, the folder becommes black.

On my other server I see only yellow folders, see www.andrewolff.nl.PNG and they stay yellow if I click the + sign.

I still can't see those yellow folders myself so it's hard to tell. What OS are you running on?

They really are there.

If I switch to "advanced" mode, they all go yellow.

I've never seen them change color otherwise, however, whether I click on the "plus" sign or not.

Edit: Very different result when connecting to my own web host instead of jalbum.net. Folders are all yellow. Clicking on "plus" makes them turn black, but only if there's a thumbs directory in there.

Ok, Then it's just that the default generic folder icon provided by Java has been changed to yellow. If we detect an album inside (by looking for a "thumbs" sub folder") then we use a custom "book" icon. That's why you see a mix.

I'm thinking that it also provides a tip-off that tells you whether your profile page will be able to extract a representing thumbnail for that album.
