jAlbum iOS for non-members

I'm investigating what I can do with jAlbum and now I'm looking at the iOS app. First of all I think that it's really nice how it works and it displays the photos nicely, but I have a few questions (these all apply to self-hosted album/projects):

1 - Is the app able to view password protected albums. I read a comment from 2013 that this wasn't possible.

2 - Is it possible to comment from the app. It didn't look that way but I perhaps missed something.

3 - Can I set up non-members to view specific albums/projects of mine? The usage scenario here is to set up older relatives that are iPad users with the access to (password protected) projects/albums where they can view/comment on family photos. It would be much easier from them to access the albums this way than using a browser.

Would the answers change if the albums were hosted on jalbum.net (from what I would understand the answer to 1 would change from "no" to "yes")?

Yes, albums that are hosted at jalbum.net and are password protected can be viewed. (jAlbum can't password protect albums hosted at other providers, so if they are the app do't know which protection mechanism is used.)

2 - Is it possible to comment from the app. It didn't look that way but I perhaps missed something.
No. The current way of commenting an album is via the commenting widget, but the widgets are not supported by the app.
However, as an album creator you can add captions to your photos, but I assume that's not what you mean.

In the app you can view a list of albums you like, but that requires that you register at jalbum.net. But that is free as long as you don't want to create albums of your own. So register a free account and "Like" the albums your older relatives should have quick access to, and log in to that account in the app. The list is at Activity->Liked.

Yeah, I understand the problems.

But in the case you have nothing to do :D this is something that would be really nice to have. But I don't really know if the problems can be solved.

My relatives will have to continue to log into the website using a web browser.

I believe there is no software problem that can't be solved given enough time. But time is, with our limited resources here at jAlbum, a bit limited...

I were accidentally logged in to the jAlbum app on my parents iPad, and when they bought a new one they were disappointed that they no longer had access to my list of albums... They thought the list was very handy... :)

Apart from world peace I guess :D

More seriously, without knowing exactly how the app works (and jAlbum) I guess that several things have to be changed to get this to work and I assume there are more important things to fix.

:D :D I have to say that it's very handy that they have both iPhones and iPads (in my case) - that way they can FaceTime on the device without problems and show what happens on the screen (and see my screen when I guide them through their problems). Which reminds me that my mother haven't called me ... yet, despite that it's three weeks since she got her printer :D
